Hi. Where do we start here then? The RS was a limited run>read exclusive< There are many cars that suffer horrendous torque steer that's why it's advisable to have a test drive in a few examples, as believe me they're not all the same!! As for the comments I heard about these cars not being cherised, I can only put this down to some people having too much money and not seeing the car for what it is (let's hope not) the last of the RS brand. You'll no doubt look at my profile and see that I own an RS...nearly 5 years now, I can't praise the car enough and i use mine in all weathers.

As long as the car hasn't been modded too death, drives just like a cooking model.

Hope this helps.

No i am not tring to put you off. the RS is a brlliant car but if you are worried about things going wrong and then paying big bills then i suggest leave them.otherwise a very good reliable car mate.

lowest depreciation car about.... bargin. Who cares about multiple owners its not important so long as the service history is there & all MOT's then just buy the thing & if worried get an extended warrenty.

Im my experience i have seen plenty of good and bad FRS,a well cared for car should be a fairly reasonable prospect to own, a poorly maintained abused car will be a nightmare.I fitted a new engine in one last week that had been abused and in recent months have done many thousands of pounds worth of repairs to cars that hadnt been looked after.

FRAUDS AKA FORD! KEEP WELL CLEAR, IF YOU GET ONE DON'T EVEN THINK OF GETTING IT SERVICED BY FRAUDS THEY ARE THE PITTS! MOST DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A RS IS.
COMMON PROBLEMS ON A FOCUS RS ARE:
SEAT BASE SAGS
ERRATIC IDLE
BOOST PIPE AROUND THE BACK OF THE INLET MANIFOLD SPLITS
BRAKES SQUEAL...AND NOTHING CAN STOP THIS
REAR BOOT UNDERSIDE PLASTIC TRIM STARTS GETTING NOISEY.
ALLOYS CORRODE BADLY
BUMPER, BONNET, WINGS, LOW REAR QUARTER PANELS GET STONE CHIPPED HEAVILY
IF THE DAMPERS GO THEY COST A FORTUNE!
OTHER THAN THIS CARS GOOD!

I think thats a good enough reason to jump ship and buy (for the same money) a nice E46 204BHP 330D Sport.

Mr Jon GT2, just like to tell you that 1 person doesn't change a whole dealership of awefull service and know how!
you of all people -coming from a bmw dealership should know the service and customer focus that bmw offer, where a company like frauds dealers don't even know the meaning!

'IT'S NOT A CASE OF 1 BAD APPLE IN THE BASKET' but 'not enough good ones'

There are good and bad dealers for just about all manufacturers, from personal experience Ford are nowhere near being the worst and deal with more customers than other manufacturers due to the sheer volume of vehicles sold.Ford take customer satisfaction very seriously and will remove a dealers franchise for continued poor levels of service.I am sure you will find dealership horror stories in most of the manufacturer sections on this site and many other sites.Problems will occur but its how these are addressed and rectified that mark one dealer out from another.

Problems I have never seen on my RS :

SEAT BASE SAGS

ERRATIC IDLE

BOOST PIPE AROUND THE BACK OF THE INLET MANIFOLD SPLITS

BRAKES SQUEAL...AND NOTHING CAN STOP THIS - Yes it can, I find a good run with a few heavy braking sessions sorts this.

REAR BOOT UNDERSIDE PLASTIC TRIM STARTS GETTING NOISEY.

ALLOYS CORRODE BADLY

BUMPER, BONNET, WINGS, LOW REAR QUARTER PANELS GET STONE CHIPPED HEAVILY - I have stone chips, but not badly and not all over. Plus, which 4 to 5 year old car hasn't ?

Just playing devils advocate wink

You are right though, don't take it to a Ford Dealership for work !!! I picked mine up, loads of petrol had been used and only a few miles had been put on, hence I know exactly how they had been driving it !! I went a little bit loopy at the service manager.

Goes to a specialist now that looks after my FRS, my mates FRS and my other mates Escort Cosworth.

From personal experience and 3 Foci (including the misery of owning an '02 ST170), I have never not once experienced what I would class as good customer service from Ford. Even changed dealer, but they let me down in the end frown

......mind you, my Renault Dealer experience made the Ford one look good rofl

I suppose we are a bit different as dealers go as we are owned by a car enthusiast,we have had a company FRS since they were released which is used more or less day to day and one owned by a member of staff, a Cossie Saph 4x4 running the MSD closed loop lambda setup and a couple of other interesting motors all mantained by us so far from not knowing what an RS is we welcome them.A normal day is 60-100 cars through the workshop so plenty of opportunities to get it wrong and we do from time to time.

My advice still stands, look for a tidy car and it will serve you well, avoid those that have been abused.
