One of the cars I am considering is the Focus hatch. I really have decided that the diesel version will suit me but have noticed that two versions seem to be available. The TDi and TDCi, can somebody tell me the basic differences and which is best to go for. Thanks.

First of all great choice of car, you won't regret choosing a Focus.

There is a big difference between the TDi and TDCi. The TDCi is common rail, and as such is much smoother, and gives much better responsiveness. I'd seriously avoid the TDi as it is a very outdated powerplant these days.

Hope that helps!

Paul.

Again TDCi is the one to have , the engines still a bit of a dog but bearable with the common rail , the mk2 with the 2.0 tdci is a cracker .
