HELP PLEASE EGR

Hi sorry my last messages were a bit misleading,but on looking further in to my problem of a water leak have found out that it is now leaking from this thing!!!
what is it is it important can I bypass it some way
200 for a new one (WOW)thought ford spares would be cheaper,would it be possible to have it welded,seems the water is coming from the seem.Hope some body can offer urgent assistance/advise getting desperate.Oh forgot its a 1.8 Tdci 90ps torneo connect.

if you look on the top of the engine behind the cam cover you will see a stainless tube about the size of a hairspray can,running parallel with the engine its the heat exchanger and its leaking internally,had the same fault with one on friday.
