Greetings Fordsters,

it's a while since I've been on here but have just had my '97 ST put back on the road after its alternator work. It's now perfect except for the flashing airbag light and I know this has been discussed here before.

So, can someone kindly either direct me to the previous thread or give us a quick heads up on how to reset it? Something to do with the seatbelts if I remember. Flashes three times then stops, then starts again...

Cheers,

Kev

You need to clean the multiplug connections under the seat with a bit of contact cleaner.

Thanks Dern - is it all as simple as that? If only I'd known.

Yep. The most complicated thing is getting access if you have big hands... I used to unbolt the seat and tilt it back and then you can have a proper clean of the connector blocks with some contact cleaner and some cotton buds or whatever. We had our v6 for 8 years and had to do it twice.

Makes up for the alternator being such a bastard to change - did ours twice.

Is there a big dangly bit of white material hanging out of the steering wheel? This might be the other explanation.
