I've got a mk1 2003 Focus that leaks water into the passenger footwell. I've heard it's quite a common problem and i've refitted the pollen filter under the scuttle panel as instructed, but it still leaks. The only explaination for this I can find is that there is a gap between the windscreen and scuttle panel, is this normal or should it be a tight seal? I don't want to take it into a dealer because i've been messed around by them before with another problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

there should be some seal/sealent along the edge of the scuttle trim where it meets the screen,
just lift it and you will see where the old strip of seal is.

There is a rather old looking seal there, but it appears that one of the clips on the panel has broken. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one and a new seal as well?

If the panel doesnt fit tight against the screen it wont seal needs a new panel or clips. Last time i tried to buy one was on back order at Fords. Silicone works but need to leave something heavy on it while it drys. Hope this helps

There was a TSB out reagrding the nearside scuttle panel which brought about a revised design and an update to Ford dealerships regarding sealing. Might be worth investigating.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have another look at it but i think I'll take it into the dealership to see if they'll sort it cos it's still under an extended warranty, and I can't find any replacement parts on the internet.
