It's a service reminder... we had one on the old mk2 mondeo. It came on 9k miles after servicing to remind you that another service was due over the next 1k miles. If you've had it serviced recently then look for a small hole next to it and stick the end of a paper clip in the hole, press and hold and the light will go out and come back on it 9k miles.

Thanks for that, I've only just bought it so will check when it was serviced last, good to know that its only on a timer not an engine problem, cheers smile. Its recently been in a ford garage for something minor, and I suspect they may have tweeked it so it gets them more work paperbag

hehe Just checked your profile, you may be able to help me on another problem with my wiper scrathces on my TVR Griffith windscreen, can they be professionally polished out, or do I have to replace it?

Is it a 2.5 v6? We had our v6 mondeo from 2000 to last year and it was very reliable. The only things I ever did to it was to swap out a seaping water pump (good to change them anyway as they can be a bit dicky), swap out the alternator a couple of times, change the front wishbones 2 or 3 times (the balljoint wears out) and change the clutch (farmed that one out). Apart from that it just ran and ran.

Yes (and no). All depends on a few factors:

1. Depth of damage;
2. length / width of damage;
3. how long the wiper was gouging into the glass?

Pretty standard sort of criteria; if you mean a stone / bit of grit has caught under the blade fairly recently and you've managed stop further damage, then yes, almost definitely.

Usuall best to have a look at it... but you're in Hampshire?

Cheers Glassman. Yes I am way down at the bottom of Hants too.
The scratches are caused by both wipers and are spread about here and there, I tried the Frosts scratch removal kit, but not much luck with that. I'll try and get a photo maybe, I think it will be hard to measure the depth accurately to give u an idea.

...lentgh is easy to measure, it was done by a previous owner, so dont know any history on it

looks like its a thumbdown then frown No surprise, thats what everyones said up to now, but I thought they might have said that just to try and get a better paid job from an insurance co. Any idea on the availability of a Griff windscreen? and any problems encountered fitting one?

There are (a few) around... in terms of your location... hmmm... I think your best bet is to try Phil Lomas who will more than likely extend all the way down to you. He's a sometime-ish poster in the TVR forums... can't remember his ID though... but he usually appears whenever there's a Tiv w/s post... 530Phil or something like that.

If the car is comprehensively insured, you may be rail-roaded into using Autoglass / RACAW / National. They have a bit of a poor reputation for a number of reasons when dealing with specialist jobs - as all TVR replacements are - but then having said that, they do have some good techicians working for them. Sadly, if you are at their mercy, it's pot luck.

Keep in touch and I'll do what I can to help / guide you.

Paul.

On the mondeo it was right next to the spanner light, you couldn't miss it.

Having done a quick google there seems to be two possibilities. The first is...

With the ignition switched on, hold the 'select' and 'units' buttons down at
the same time for about 4 seconds, the service indicator will then reset and
give you no more problems for another 10,000 miles. (Both these buttons are
located on the trip indicator circular dial).

...and the second is that the reset hole might be in the glove box somewhere.

Good luck.
