Hi,
driving home tonight, under braking the brake warning light would come on, and then go out when I released the brake pedal.

Checked brake fluid, looks "ok".

Any ideas?

PS THe handbrake is definitely off!

On my MR2, same symptons, it was low brake fluid even though it was still just above the minimum marker. Might be worth trying for the sake of a few quid. smile

Cheers Rob, guess it wouldn't hurt to try!

<stupid>
Presumably it's DOT4 - but is it just a case of open fluid bottle and top up, or does more need to be done?

I'd flush the fluid and replace if it's not been done for a while, but you could just top up and make the problem go away

I'll give that a try to begin with then - if it resolves it I'll see about replacing the fluid rather than just topping it up. Selling the Ka shortly, but would rather it went to somebody in good nick than knowing things were less than great. Thanks Andy

Well, a week after topping up and no brake warning light!

I've arranged to have the fluid flushed / replaced anyway, as I'm never that happy about "topping up" anything - although if was done 6000 miles ago (so far as the garage told me when they serviced the car, and I've no reason to doubt)
