I'll give that a try to begin with then - if it resolves it I'll see about replacing the fluid rather than just topping it up. Selling the Ka shortly, but would rather it went to somebody in good nick than knowing things were less than great. Thanks AndyWell, a week after topping up and no brake warning light!
I've arranged to have the fluid flushed / replaced anyway, as I'm never that happy about "topping up" anything - although if was done 6000 miles ago (so far as the garage told me when they serviced the car, and I've no reason to doubt)
