Mondeo niggles
Discussion
Beacuase my vectra was deemed unroadworthy by the dealer (balljoint popped out on the ramp and snapped engine mount) , Ive had the joy of a mondeo 2.0 tdci titanium for the last few days .
Right its a fantastic car ,
the ride and handling are a little softer than the previous car but it still manages to keep composure on roads that have the vectra buckarooing and tossing you all over the cabin.
The sony stereo is pretty damn good and with a 6 disc mp3 changer built in you can get a lot of music in there as its been launched on the focus i expect usb connectivity and DAB will be along shortly .
niggles are...
the boot pisses water out of each side of the channel under the rear window .
the convers + display , great idea but ,
FFS Ford either put a light sensor in the cluster or a dimmer control in the display settings its just damn dangerous and distracting at night even dimmed down , and then you can see the speedo clearly!,
along with a few more background colours ,
also a red monochrome version for lower spec cars would be nice .
the carpet fit under the dash is almost eastern block in its fit ,
did someone get the measurements wrong ? also the way its just cut by the drivers seat for the vin plate on the floor , you can see the grey felt on the back , nice !
the 2.0 feels gutless in comparison to my vectra wheres the bloody torque? even as standard the vectra will kick its arse (providing the roads stright and not bumpy
The sunvisors are cheap and the vanity mirror lighting is just nasty!
plus now the car is pretty much all can-bus like the vectra they could programme a lot of convenience features in but they havent bothered !
Its a great car that can do more if ford pulled thier finger out and spent a little more time at the production stage and a few more £ per build .
Itsthe little deatails that let the car down and thats a shame .
ps Ford Put alloys on the edge the binlids look crap.....

So how does it compare to a Mk3 ST220? I must say i looked around a Mk4 and noticed the arch liners were made out of some kind of recycled carpet as opposed to the plastic on all previous Mondeo's. There was something else that struck as penny pinching cost cutting but i forget what it was now.............

Is this the 2.0 petrol or diesel? i had a test drive of a 2.0 TDCI titaniumX (18in alloys sat nav etc) i just couldn't believe how sluggish it was. imho due to the cars weight. it weighs a good chunk more than the passat.Right its a fantastic car ,

Oh dear that really is st! I think that has confirmed i will never buy a new Ford again, shame as with a TINY bit more thought and probably no more than £10 per car spent they could be much better. The cost cutting on my 220 was disgusting, having to spend £100 on parts for a new car to recontent what the tight bds missed off (which leads to a dropping rear bumper amoungst other things, but that's OK as trim is only covered for 12 months)was rediculous. Ford's attitude also sucked.
Spooky, this drops in my inbox this morning...........

Looks pretty good to me! If it handles well this could well be my first Vauxhall!
