Help, Has anyone fitted roof bars on a mk5 fiesta?

I have recently bought roof bars and there are black strips running each side of the roof, i expected to lift these and find 4 holes to attach the bars to, lifted them up and there is nothing, really doesn't make sense, unfortunately i bought them off ebay and don't have any instructions
