Wibble.

With around 300bhp, a quaiffe ATB and some decent suspension that would be quite fun.

Hmm...
The mk4 mondeo is available with the engine from the factory there is a 500bhp one that one of the tuners (dreamscience I think) have built
Not sure how similar the Mk3 and Mk4 are though?!

Didn't realise someone had actually done it though.

The engines mount almost identically
Someone local to me had the 5 pot in & bolted up but not running

I haven't heard anything more about it for the past year or so though I think it's one of those long term projects
Mondeo and Focus use different geaerboxes - maybe that's the issue?

I have since discovered that it is in fact a power steering pipe. If that's the source of the "oil" leak then that's not too disastrous.
Yep, power steering. Bloody stuff goes everywhere with the smallest of leaks.

I miss mine. I love my new car but the ST220 will always be fondly missed.
Yep, exactly how I feel. So few about, which I think makes it feel even more special.

I really hope they do another Mondeo ST, athough sadly I suspect it will be a 4pot turbo.

^^ That looks GORGEOUS! I miss my ST220. Still, driving a V10 Audi S8 does take the edge off slightly.
If that was aimed at my car then thanks smile
I wanted a very particular spec for the car and it took a long time to find. I wanted OEM xenons, Panther black, good condition red interior but no denso head unit. I didnt want a Denso as they are now showing their age and an aftermarket head unit can give much better sound.

Here is the inside.

The car looks pretty much OEM but even this pic reminds me of several small changes I've already made to the car.
TDCi gear knob too :geek:

What makes you think that?
It's the Ford generic alloy gear knob as fitted to not only the 2005-2007 Mondy ST, but also tit and Titx, focus, fiesta and C max. In this instance it was cheaper to buy the gear knob as a Focus gear knob than buying it as a Mondy one lol. It was like when you buy parts branded as volvo or jaguar as the sellers want less than if sold for a Mondy ST.
I fitted a new gear knob as it was miles better than the gear knob ford fitted in 2004.
The car also got a brand new steering wheel, brand new pedal covers and will be getting a one year old (one year out of the box) hand brake lever.
I'm gradually replacing all the door pulls too so as many of the contact points are new. I tend to always do this as even though the car had only done 60.000 miles when I bought it the difference in wear between its OEM parts and new was like chalk and cheese lol.
It was fitted to the TDCi ST (FINIS 1359007 for the MMT box) as standard. The 220 got a more traditional looking effort on the first facelift

The final facelift got the red stitching...

Raynkar makes some really good points.

When I bought mine years ago, people would state "fully loaded" and "every option" but then listed the standard equipment irked

If you have any traffic calming there, I really wouldn't go for lowering springs.
Agreed!

Check the Eibachs though, they may be lowered versus the standard car, and the 220 is a bit lower anyway.

OK to all you ST220 lovers, I am still fairly keen on one of these, along with about 151 other cars it has to be said, but one thing is putting me off, various threads where owners said they were troublesome.... are they really a pain in the a***? I would have thought with a n/a fairly unstressed V6, an ST220 would have given less trouble than your typical 3 litre turbo diesel, or 2 litre turbo'd petrol car?
I had mine 5 years.

Breather pipe went once, two rear wheel bearings replaced and a water ingress issue on a rear door (fairly easy fix).

Rear subframe bushes were fine in the 30k miles I did (from 50-80k). I regularly changed the oil, serviced on the button and had no real issues. I tend to do preventative maintenance - so the first morning it was slow to start, I changed he battery. It never let me down.

...has everyone fallen out of love with ST220s? This thread suddenly died in December 2015 and not a single post since....I still look at them in the classifieds on a regular basis and think, "hmm, they are a nice looking car for the money..."
I don't have one any more - but I do still miss it.

I fitted them to mine - also recall they weren't cheap.

The Ford solution it to remove the grille and then screw it through to secure it banghead
