Wibble.

With around 300bhp, a quaiffe ATB and some decent suspension that would be quite fun.

Hmm...

The mk4 mondeo is available with the engine from the factory there is a 500bhp one that one of the tuners (dreamscience I think) have built

Sounds very interesting. I've put Mk2 MR2 Turbo engines into Mk1s before now, so it's nothing I wouldn't be afraid of....

The JP just dispenses with the central silencers, no idea why you'd remove the rear ones hehe

Needless to say I absolutely love mine and how it sounds

Not sure how similar the Mk3 and Mk4 are though?!

Didn't realise someone had actually done it though.

The engines mount almost identically
Someone local to me had the 5 pot in & bolted up but not running

I haven't heard anything more about it for the past year or so though I think it's one of those long term projects

Mondeo and Focus use different geaerboxes - maybe that's the issue?

Yeah mine was too.. Couldn't work it out, and nor could I work out why the two rear boxes are different..!

Has anyone contemplated a "proper" brake upgrade, i.e. something like AP Racing, Tarox, HiSpec etc? The AP stuff is like £2k+ so I've always discounted the idea based on the price and not realising there were other alternatives, but I've just discovered that HiSpec (along with Tarox) make a series of different kits for the Mondeo, starting with this one http://www.hispecbrake.co.uk/Mon300B4.html and it seems considerably better value than AP etc. You can go up in terms of disc size etc too, at a cost.

It's something which is now crossing my mind as a decent modification for not ridiculous sums of money - it's got to be considerably better than the stock setup and a fair bit better than the Focus ST conversion, right?

Why? There is a ST220 in the Trackday Trophy this year running Focus ST brakes without issue. Additional venting has been added but I think that's it. If they are fine I can't see anyone else really needing anything much better?

Just bought a 2006.5 St220 in performance blue with all of the kit and I am really impressed. Also got the miltek exhaust which sounds great. A very worthy upgrade to my old st24, this thing really performs well.

Mine is a 55 plate, I think it's the 2005.5 model with the older skirts which are prone to the jacking point covers falling off. Had it since new and never thought I'd keep it for this long. Recently took it on a drive down to Benidorm, Spain - you can read my adventure @ http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Mine came with the Xenons, Denso Sat-Nav and the 'Advanced Bluetooth Pack' which basically means I can connect the phone to it via Bluetooth. I seem to remember there being three options for the Denso stuff with 1) Basic, 2) Advanced and 3) Premimum which was a mobile phone caddy below the handbrake, address book and the ability to read text messages...I think?

Driving it on the roads in Europe really showed how underrated this car is, especially at the age mine is at. The mileage is now at 105k and the only issue I've had is the moosing problem which was solved with a new Idle Control Valve. Although, I do now have a braking/juddering steering wheel problem which I think is linked to the huge pothole I hit at a Service Station outside Le Mans. But I'll have a lookie at that later.

I rarely drive mine these days, the pattern tends to be every couple of weeks, i'll wash it, then stick 30 quid of V-power in, blast it away, then 2 weeks later repeat. And I throughly enjoy each second of that blast wink

They only had them on for the first 2-3 months of production after the '6-speed' facelift and deleted them after, so approx July 2003 build to November 2003.

Here is one on ebay as an example, August 2003 reg, (Built 19th July 03, a day after mine!) may have been from the same dealer as my original reg was also AM03 ***

Seems to be a torque limiter in 1st and 2nd gear. Is this to save the DMF or just wheelspin - can it be removed easily?
