...has everyone fallen out of love with ST220s? This thread suddenly died in December 2015 and not a single post since....I still look at them in the classifieds on a regular basis and think, "hmm, they are a nice looking car for the money..."
I don't have one any more - but I do still miss it.

Definitely no lack of love for me! I went to MIJ in Walsall to have a custom exhaust fitted yesterday. Brembo front brake upgrade next on the agenda, followed by some new springs and dampers.

That..is a thing of beauty!!

I really do think Ford nailed it with the Mondeo ST. Everything looks in proportion and the wheels are some of the best on any fast Ford. Always was a handsome beast, the MK3 Mondeo..shame it all went downhill with the Mk4 and the hideously badly proportioned and ugly current shape model!! Too much American "world car" influence, methinks...

Yeah I agree that everything went south with the mk4. The mk3 still looks a handsome car, especially in ST form. I love mine, such a capable package for the money.

Same thing happened on the Focus. The mk1 was a really sharp looking car. IMHO it really hasn't aged that much in 17 years, whereas the current Mk3 is awfully proportioned and has no more cabin space and a smaller boot than a car which was about 200KG lighter and nearly a foot shorter. How did Ford manage that?!

They need to get Parry Jones and the other euro Ford guys back and keep Ford America out!

How many miles has your ST done? Most of the ones I have seen for sale for reasonable money look a bit tired and the MOT history is usually not positive...!

I'll always be fond of them. I miss mine. The noise was glorious. Best seats I've ever sat in, too.

I really like my mk4 and in many ways it (Titanium X Sport) feels and drives like natural progression from the ST220, but of course it's inferior in some ways.

A fellow saloon owner smile Mine maybe getting used a lot more soon, I bet no one else has a 6900 mile example with every factory option?!!

No I definitely can't compete with that mileage! I'd love to see yours in the metal. Mine's got most options, barring the rear audio and sunroof. It had to be a saloon, I think they look so much more "purposeful" than the hatches. Are you a member of the owner's club?

I don't get time for clubs & meets etc tbh these days. Mines got rear heated seats so no rear seat audio. I got the sunroof as I always liked them! I think the only option I could have had but didn't was the full sized steel spare, seemed pointless!!

Yep, brand new factory order, although due to it been via a broker I'm listed as the second owner (paid about £22k new rather than the list of £28k by memory!!). Came from the dealer on the back of a flat bed & I got the V5 a month later smile

Sounds like you got a cracking deal on that then!! Yeah the standard list was £24k so with all your options it must've been nudging £30k with all ticked boxes.

I got a great deal on the exhaust. I paid £350 instead of the usual £500+ as it was a group deal through the owner's club.

I sold mine to a pal that has had it two years. It's one of those cars that, I wish I had kept and has just turned 50k miles.

He has just (last week) put a milltek exhaust on it and it sounds absolutely glorious. I went a short run last night in it as passenger and it got me thinking. You would really struggle to buy any car, in that condition, with that mileage, with that trim level, with a N/A V6 3.0L that sounds and goes as good it does.
Unbelievable bang for buck. And what's it had it,servicing aside the last 3 years? A stainless exhaust (it didn't need), a window regulator, tyres and brake pads.

Good ones are worth every penny they sell for. R32s are double the money, nowhere near as rare and no better IMO.

I agree with you 110%....Golf R32s are just so over-rated IMO, the money they fetch is crazy for a car that in many ways is inferior to the boggo MK5 GTI (the one I prefer). Talking of value for money, I bought a 155 MPH Merc CLK 430 last Friday for £1850 with less than 100K miles on the clock....I digress....where do you find these tidy Mondeo STs however? Most of the ones I see for sale look a bit tired with less than promising recent MOT histories (I always look up the MOT history on VOSA as its very illuminating!).

Also, a number of posts I have read cast doubt on the ST220s reliability. It seems, a bit like the ST170 Focus of the same period that you get very good ones and very bad ones and not much in between? A guy on the mazda forum I frequent (I own a Mazda 6) had one before his Mazda 2.5 sport and said he would never have another as it was a pain the in **** !

Still fancy one though, badly.
