Hi
Been working on the Fiesta. Have a look through the pics and let me know what you think. Today I have refurbished the exterior of the gear box. 99% of the interior is out and all is in great condition now having been washed including the headlining.

The engine is on the stand and is a fully rebuilt unit.

The gearbox looked in a right state but after a few hours removing grease and oil and prepeartion the results are there to be seen:

Look foward to your comments.

Thanks Jay
Today I spent a couple of hours at the garage stripping all the grease, grime and dirt from the engine bay and slam pannel. 20 years of grime...

Nearly done that so next will be removing the underseal from the front inner wings.

Thankyou!
Its these kind of remarks that are keeping me going; if I knew then what I know now I probably would not have started. Each and every item that comes of the car must at minimum be cleaned and often painted before it goes back on.
It will be worth it in the end and Im learning a lot!

Bad respone from the other site to be honest; as I said on there its not the first time I have used that site.

Back to mine...

Been removing the underseal from the passenger inner wing, wheel arch and front chassis leg on that side. As anyone who has removed underseal with a blow lamp its the worst job. It takes ages and its horrible dirty work.
I will take a pic of the area I have done tomorrow. I removed the front wing to get to it all as it is having new front wings anyway.

Also removed all the brake and fuel lines completely from the car and also removed the gear stick and connecting shift rods. The floor is now bare minus the handbrake cable.

Hi
Been doing a couple of hours a day on the RS.
As I kept saying removing underseal is a nightmare but Im just about done. I removed both front outer wings and removed all the underseal and grease from both (see pictures).

I have refurbished the brake servo, the brake servo mounting brackets, both front wishbone carriers (see pictures with new wishbones in), both front hubs (with new bearings fitted) and spindle carriers (see pictures).

Today the weather is terrible but managed to rebuild the suspension on the drivers side. I will do the same to the passenger side tomorrow meaning the car is free to roll again.

There is surface rust (only a dusting) already appearing on the freshly striped floor and the passenger inner wing. As soon as the car is ready for the bodyshop I will get them to weld the new panels on and I will have it back before painting. This is when I will seam seal all the welds and joins (removing all suspension again...) before applying the correct primer and top coat to the floor and all inner arches.

I hope you agree the project is moving forward and Ill keep taking pics as I go.

Let me know what you think.

Hello Trooper,

Im the guy who owns the red one as posted earlier in your thread.

Well done on restoring the Fiesta, i know its a lot of work and money! But stick in there, as it will be worth it. As someone else said, you realy dont see any on the roads now.

Im hoping to get mine finished .... sometime .... i have got the worst over with.

I am also on Fiestaturbo.com, but rarely these days. Sorry i missed your thread there, as i do like to see these under rated cars getting restored smile

Keep us up to date smile
