just read sprint that arrived today, bookings now being taken for Cadwell on 30th july, tvr only day £168 per car, sounds like excellent value, will be on the phone tomorrow to get booked in.

Yep. Just need to apply pressure for an open pit lane format this time.

Hi Clive, i went ith Kev D as a spectator and people were sent out in groups of about a dozen for runs of about 20 minutes each, i think most people got about 6 runs in the day, not sure if people were classified, ie novices/intermediate/advanced

12 at a time is a little pathetic given the size of the track, there is no reason it couldn't run as open pit.

It could be limited to 18 cars with a little queuing at first, then to open pit and after a couple of hours there wouldn't be a queue as it evens out.

Even on the tiny Brands Indie circuit they let out about 26 cars at a time on open pit!

Your car is referenced as being very loud in this thread and in others i've read - so just how do you get through the noise test or am i missing a point somewhere
I must just have a lovely smile wink

More seriously though, it is getting more and more difficult to get it through even on 105db days. As Cirvy implied, I had all sorts of trouble getting it through at Oulton and that's the first time in 15 years it's failed there. So, I do need to sort out a new exhaust for it asap but having just had an a/c compressor go on my day to day car, funds could be a bit of an issue frown

First outing of the year for me at Knockhill this coming Saturday - I think there's 50 cars booked (from fairly slow to very vey fast) on an open pit lane on a 1.3 mile circuit. Providing the car doesn't break, I fully expect to get more track miles in this 4 hour session than I managed at Cadwell in a full day.

Much as though I'd love to go back to Cadwell with the TVRCC - it's nice to see lots of TVRs on track, and folks are real friendly - I didn't feel there was enough track time running the day as sessions. I probably sound like a grumbly old git [which is fairly close to the truth], and I really do appreciate the efforts the organisers put in - it's a fairly thankless task. But for me at least it's a long way to go for what ends up as maybe just 6 outings of 15 minutes of spirited driving by the time you take out warm-up and cooling-down laps and the time to change-over groups.

And it's a real pain if you have a car problem - if you miss your session start time then you'd end up being in the pits for at least an hour and 40 minutes! Luckily my car made all the sessions, but the next outing (at Knockhill) I had a big electrical problem and I lost the first 90 minutes of a 4 hour session. It didn't really mess with the day too much though as I just ran longer on track in the time left and took shorter breaks...and still managed to use the 100 litres of fuel I had with me eek

Another issue is with carrying passengers - I never like to say 'no' to anyone that asks and I think I probably carried a passenger on 5 of the 6 sessions? But the car runs better and I'm happier driving solo...plus in a 15 minute session I think some of the passengers were starting to have had enough! On an OPL I'd typically run a few shorter passenger stints for folks in-between longer solo drives so everyone's happy.

How difficult is it to run OPL with a fast flowing blind brow quite close to the pit exit?

I must admit, I never feel like I have anything short of the time I or the car wants on track with groupings, groupings are also is more novice/less experienced friendly...all IMO of course.

When I did the TVRCC Cadwell day, I covered 120 miles on track, out every session.

By comparison, I rarely cover less then 160 miles on a track day, often covering 120 miles and a completely empty tank in a morning session!

I try, but the point is..................if you travel a long way, 220 miles each way in my case, I'd rather "do" the track day.

It's a shame HHC are unable do the three or any Croft track days anymore for TVR's/Nobles etc, really good well organised days & some really decent lads used to attend plus some stunning TVR's. Speed 12 once turned up & did a few laps...

Fond memories

Thanks for the compliment Clive, but there are better looking and more experienced instructors there than I.

Not sure if I'll be there, but if I am I'd like to meet you and would be happy to pass any tips on, I know the place quite well now after 30+ years of track days, sprinting and racing there, but seriously, Colin and Helen are the people to spend time with. smile
