Fellow TVR / Racing Nuts,
If you've nothing to do or have some time on your hands on Wednesday or Thursday, go to Silverstone.
I've just returned from a stonking day out which only cost me my fuel. They are F1 testing and it costs nowt to watch and you have the whole of the start/finish straight and corners to watch from (some undercover)!
I was lucky today as Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Jordan, Renault, B.A.R, Jaguar and Toyota were all there. The sessions were 10am - 1.00pm & 2.00pm to 5.00pm. (Don't know if this is the same for all 3 days, should be.)
If you've ever seen these boys 100% flat out in the Formula 1 cars, you know its not to be missed. If you've never witnessed this, go and see for yourself. These top drivers are from another dimension! Awesome.
Recommendation A plus

Mel, you wont be disappointed.
Since posting this topic, I've since learnt that I was watching no less than R.Schumacher, Montoya, E.Irvine, Button, Fisichela & Co. - I wish I'd booked another couple of days off! See www.f1-live.com

If you check the Silverstone website
www.octagonmotorsports.com/circuit/circuit.asp?c=5
Bottom RH corner gives all the dates, if you can't make this one.
However, this is the last big test before the GP this year, so virtually all the teams will be there....and the weather is due to be glorious.

I called in yesterday on my way back from a clients, unfortunately I didn't get there till about 3.30 and just as I got to a stand a hail storm started !!! However by 4.15 Williams and Jordan (plus the orange ones who I never remember) were back out testing and did do until 5, It was fairly crowded and as usual silverstone traffic was a nightmare (getting in was bad, out seemed ok) but well worth it and a top recommend

Well, went along this afternoon...
Bloody fantastic...
First time that I've experienced F1 (apart from on the telly) and the noise is just amazing - Have to turn the telly _right_ up next time.
All the top (and not so top!) teams were there.
Can't wait for September.
Cheers for the pointer Lazyitus

Well, I was wrong about being limited to Luffield - for the first time (in my experience) the stands were open and you could watch all the way to Copse - saw an Arrows' engine let go and Barachello nearly cop it on the oil - that's the prob with testing - no marshalls, though you would have thought that the teams would have kept an eye out as the thing went nearly all the way along the straight from Woodcote with a plume of smoke before spinning on it's own oil! After that, the rain came down - and still no cement dust on the oil spill! Being an ex-marshall, I found it amazing that the oil wasn't treated....but it was interesting to watch the cars twitching all the way round Copse!
I guess it'll be back to watching from the complex after the GP.

I can confirm, I'm one of the luckiest guys alive... I was talking about this casually with a colleague, who called a mate, who spoke to his boss, who got me a hospitality ticket with McLaren in the suite directly above the pits.
These days are well recommended though, and when it's sunny (i.e. not like today) you see more of the F1 cars than at a GP... only they follow each other around in a procession ... oh yes, like in a GP!!!!
