Yup, the car is in and, joy oh joy, there is not just a light (as the man promised) but a mains double socket. And water.

It's half as wide again and at least three feet longer than the car so there's no real no need for the carpet offcuts I bought for a grossly over-inflated £1 this morning. Plus the walls are lined with plasterboard so even if a door does touch, damage is unlikely -- and it should be a bit warmer in winter.

Could hardly be better!

Now, let's see how much does that nice Leven chappie want for an intelligent battery charger...

Filmidget,
I was the same as you, I bought a double garage that came with a two bed house

My brother was telling me about a small house at auction in the countryside somewhere, that was actually the 'gatehouse' to an underground storage facility that the MOD had finished with. Apparently it had full heat, vent and aircon in, was big enough to drive through and had umpteen thousands of cubic metres of space! Dunno if/ how much it went for though.
My titchy bungalow has marginally more floor space than the garage, but there's not much in it.
I was lucky enough to trip over some aircon going cheap a few weeks back; daughter's boyfriend works for an IT company that's down on its luck, they closed a server building and I bought the aircon. It's a Carrier split system, less than two years old and capable of cooling an area at least twice what I have. It's almost 1500 quid new; I got it for 200. All I need to do now is knock a few holes through the wall....;-)

As for the ball on a string bit, a bit of wood screwed to the floor works as well as it don't swing in the breeze (if its that close). Carpet for the walls, I was going to do that when it was pointed out to me that it tends to rot/smell. Ceiling tiles, plastic ones are better. Bought the house after the car fitted the garage.
