Why will it be? It's only a website LOL, if folk don't know now they won't know then.
Let's just say someone spent about 3 hours at the BNG 2010 talking to Jonny Greenwood, as well as various other ex-TVR staff and ex race mechanics......

No, I'm Tony. Nick is my son, who's been doing the digging.

White Speed 12 racer and Purple Speed 12 racer are indeed the same car.

White Speed 12 racer is unaccounted for, possibly back with Peter Wheeler's estate.

Purple race car, was last seen in the Bluebird owner's premises. Where it is now, unsure, could well be back with the Wheelers.

All will hopefully be cleared up and clarified shortly when the new website launches.
Not making a lot of sense there.

You're agreeing they're both the same car but then suggesting that they're 'both' unaccounted for and possibly back at the Wheelers confused

Ok, so unless we find other info, the white and purple race version is the same car just repainted? Right? Ok then does anyone know where this car is the purple road?

Sorry about the quality but I believe this is NEC 1997, would this be the same as the purple racer which is also now the white racer??

The Purple/White Speed 12 Race Car had the roof scoop which the Road Car didn't have.

No roof scoop in it's first outing, Speed 12 at it's first race, Oulton Park, and first motorshow appearance (with roof scoop!)

Apologies, I misunderstood what Nick told me.

The white car became a purple race car, and is unaccounted for, but is rumoured to be back at the Wheelers.

The purple motorshow car, which was seen with Bluebird, is unaccounted for, but as someone previously posted, could be back at the Wheelers too.

Sorry for the confusion.

I've done an awful lot of research on this and I'm pretty certain the original Speed 12 was never road resigistered before it became the SP12 Cerbera.

The confusion as where they are is down to the fact that when PW moved on from one project to another the old cars were just abandoned as can be seen from the various pictures of showcars in what was the 'graveyard'. Also as there wasn't much 'stock control' employed at the company people who were friends were allowed to acquire things either as loans that were never returned or sales that weren't recorded.

None of the original Speed 12s were road registered. They tried the white race car on road tyres once but it just spun through every gear.

Interesting fact; the original Speed 12 used a NASCAR gearbox with only 4 gears, as this was one of the only gearboxes that could handle the torque the engine produced at that time.

I guess the car that I was initially curious about was W112... But now I am curious about them all! How on earth cars of such significant can go missing I can't understand.
I work on lots of historic cars and its quite common with historic Ferrari's and Alfa's etc. They'll dissapear when they're not worth that much then re-appear 20 odd years later and a collector will pay silly money for them. I hope they come back one day it would be great to see them with the Cerbera Speed 12 on the TVRCC stands at events.

Wasn't there a story about one of the racers going to Japan or was that rubbish?

Apparently it was rubbish. The motorshow car that ended up with Bluebird did go to the far east for motorshows though.

W112 was at the NEC and Goodwood last year.

The AM powered CS12 will hopefully be at Sherburn in September.

There are two purple racing Speed12s in this pic if I'm not mistaken... one with the roof scoop, one without, and neither current location known..... frown

I believe that the car on the left is the motorshow car. The one on the right was the white race car, and was repainted in the purple you see in the photo. I'd speculate that it went something like this:

White race car built, no roof scoop.

White race car has roof scoop added.

White race car gets painted purple.

Purple race car disappears.

The first white racecar had no roof scoop, my pictures above were it's first competitive outing.

The first time the purple car was at the motorshow it had a roof scoop, now either this is a different car, or the white racecar repainted with a scoop added!!!

Or more than one set of bodywork that they could drop onto the racer? I know Lister used to change the bodywork on a racecar to fool people into thinking there were more road cars!
