Hello All,
Not been to Silverstone to watch the GP for some 10 years and think I remember parking in a field last time.
I've got tickets for this year with a public parking ticket (red) and intend taking Trev. Is this a good idea - whats the public parking like and is it TVR friendly particularly if it rains?
Please share your experience,
Cheers All,
Antony

I've been going to the GP for the last 5 years (not bothering this time around mind), and only once have we had to park on grass. The rest of the time it has been tarmac, or a rough gravelled area at least. I'd be more concerned about the traffic. It is quite possible to find yourself queuing for a good couple of hours on the Sunday evening, which I wouldn't be comfortable doing in the Tiv.

I've been ever year since 06 and had to park in different fields that shouldnt be a problem in a TVR unless its an absuloute washout and starts looking like glastonbury which I've never seen yet. Have fun there either way CM

Traffic also. Everything else is great but the queue getting in will get your engine bay hotter than the devil's own BBQ especially if it is a breathless hot day too. Having said that, I have stuck it out in the queue for big events in my Cerb and it's survived but my stress level rises with the temp out of the bonnet. I've edged forward with the bonnet propped up and my head looking around it out of the window. I used a foot pump as a prop, one time, which became so hot itself I burnt my hand removing it and it was only touching fibreglass.

Could I ask the same thing, but in relation to the campsite as its the first time I've been? Heading down Friday, coming back Monday so hoping traffic won't be as much of an issue.

Cheers all for the feedback.
Hear what you say about traffic but the Sagaris is pretty good at idle in hot weather (been stuck in lots of traffic in sunny / hot Le Mans without a problem) although maybe we'll hang around after the race and let the traffic die down a bit.

Go in and out via Dadford and you shouldn't get held up too much especially on the way out go through the small lanes to Buckingham - always worked for me as most people seem to want to get on and queue for the main roads. Mind you only works if your coming from the south Some cracking roads too if you feel all Lewis Hamilton on the way out As already said if you get there early enough you should get onto the hardstandings and not the grassed areas. Did get stuck in the grass sorry mud one year in the Audi and had to be pulled out by the AA who was on hand.

Go for it, took the Tuscan in 2011, rain and 2 1/2 hours to get out plus 750 mile round trip, took all in its stride. Plus the comments and positive reactions from people wouldn't hesitate to take the TVR.

If you're in a grass carpark, just use the TVR excuse of low ground clearance and ask to park next to the entrance/exit. Works well so you don't have to queue to get out the field.

I'm in the campsite Fri-Sunday. Sadly not in he Cerb. Creature comforts of a hired motorhome (sod living in a tent for a game of soldiers!)

I've been to the last 2 Britcars with maybe 20+ TVRs and no problem, some roads have stones so of course speed needs care.
as said above traffic is an issue on exit. I left the MotoGP this year and it took about an hour to get to the A43 and then there are likely to be delays on the dual carriageway.

Weather not looking good but I've already stuck the parking ticket on the Trevor so bound to take it now - at about what time do we need to get there on Sunday to ensure we get a hard surface car park??
Cheers

With all the sh*t weather we are having I'm going to admit defeat and leave the TVR at home
