Derek, I really feel for you because Santa Pod is becoming your nemesis. I saw Matts vid and your start was a flyer and potentially a great time but then.....
I hope it's not a costly fix and if it had to go at all, why couldn't it be at the end of the day?!
Still, 14 seconds while blowing up half way along; impressive.

The camera is a Go Pro HD Hero 2 Motorsports http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero2-motorsports-edit...I am using it with an external mic located in the boot but as you probably noticed on the video it is a little crackley. I need to experiment more refine the sound. Here is a picture of mine showing the GoPro attached to the side: Matthew

sorry to see the engine let go derek, are you running a hydraylic cam, sounds like valve met piston on the burnout, every time you changed gear a puff of smoke was there from the start, lifter pump up, valve met piston at the line and bent valve, during run valve embedded in piston and holed the piston, if you need any 4 litre pistons i have a shed load of second hand ones

The engine is a 4.6 with 4.0 pistons and a hydraulic real steel cam.... typhoon i think, built by haircutmike. I guess things could be tight. A leaky inlet valve could explain the nitrous backfires. Some of those puffs of smoke were quite dramatic exposions back through the inlet. I will strip the motor down tomorrow and see if its possible to patch it up. Watch this space.

I predicted a 13.5 for you Matt. Those tyres and an average engine bhp is the best you could expect i guess. The guys running a full second quicker have better grip from 888's and another 50+bhp. Its not that difficult to make a nice leap forward on the strip or you could just cheat and fit a nitrous kit, forced induction or fit an LS or similar

I am sure with more practice I could get the 13.8 down to a 13.5 as like you said there is some improvement to be had in the 60foot time. I agree, looking at the TVR 1/4 mile time wiki other people's times a nicely tuned RV8 with R888s should see mid 12s but any lower than that required serious grunt (Nitrous, SC, Turbo or LS). I wonder if anyone has put an LS9 into a Griff yet

I removed the plugs and all look reasonably ok apart from number 1.... A quick compression test on number 1 gave a big fat zero! I am pretty sure the valley gasket shouldnt look like this... The inlet ports look fine and all the valves and pushrods are still in place. Gonna remove the nearside head next

Not had a chance to check them yet, will tonight. Cant believe i forgot to press record when we raced ! Just removed the nearside exhaust manifold and oil ran out of number 1 exhaust port. I think that piston may have a hole in it. Anyone know what size hex socket i need for the head bolts?
