Are the R1R`s road legal ? or you could try the cheaper Federal RSR s .Ive been looking at these tyre`s but the big problem is the range of sizes ,can`t find anything close for a 16/17" setup.

Iv`e heard each tyre will have a colour code on the walls to tell the Police which one`s are road legal .i have some even worse news,the budget tyres will be allegal soon so we will no choice than to buy all the top brands .. Remember Toyo T1R`s were cheap budget tyres untill they were found to be a great tyre for light weight sports cars.

The T1R`s have been replaced and also the Falken 452`s ..Both replacements are total rubbish ..

I`m looking to replace my T1R`s....heard the Falkens were good but didn`t realize they had been replaced too.....what are people using now?
Not yet but its on there website. tread pattern is now asymmetrical rather than directional,What ever that means .

I have been using the Federal equivalent and very impressed, especially for the price! ment to last better that the 888's aswell and slightly better for the road, but slightly worse on track.

Unfortunatly the RSRs only come in 1 compound. The advantage of the 888s was that they came in a variety- supersofts are very useful for sprints/hillclimbs. The only other tyre is Kumho Ecsta V70A that comes in a few compounds. Unless anyone knows otherwise?

Horses for courses yes.
I believe the RSR is a very good all rounder that wont wear out in just a few thousand road miles. The softer 888,s did give much more grip at the dragstrip.
I swap my rear wheels for drag racing anyway so I am mre than happy with the RSRs day to day and the odd trackday.

I've spoken to Alan Meaker (Technical and Motorsport Manager) at Toyo Tyres UK about this and he says;

This is not true.

The R888 meets all the new regulation[sic] relating to noise, rolling resistance and wet grip and will remain legal until at least 1st November 2014, but it is most likely they will remain legal until 1st November 2018.

If you'd like to ask him yourself, drop me a PM and I'll give you his email address and 'phone number.

The directional V-groove tyres seem to be falling out of favour with the return of bands of tread around the circumference. Toyo have gone this way in the evolution of the T1-S (full V groove), T1-R (more regular tread on the edges) and the new T1-Sport (asymmetric, no V grooves).

Yes, but you think your Cerbera is a Griffith (at least according to your profile picture!)
