Nitron spring rates
Discussion
Another set Daz? You'll have tested every set up avaliable to Chim/Griff owners before your finished!
Rather than doing another DIY, why not take it to one of the recognised specialists, tell them what kind driving you do and let them spec and then set up the springs/dampers accordingly?
Might save you even more headaches.

A simple yet obvious question would be:
"What do Nitron say?"
If you haven't done so already, I suggest you call them.
Tell them about your car, what type of driving you do and your expectations for handling & ride comfort.
My guess is they will want to help and have all the answers you're seeking.

See, told you they would want to help.
Definitely a smarter idea to ask the manufacturer rather than the forum for this one Daz.
My guess is they may even be able to offer a "Nodding Dog" setting
Although most people find them fine, I know you have suffered with your Gaz units.
So we are all ears on how you get on with the Nitrons, just be clear with the manufacturer about what you want from them mate & don't forget to tell them about your wheels & tyres
Finally its worth remembering it's a TVR, it's never going ride like a Rolls Royce.

Thats what i am doing mate ,Im going to willow sports cars to have the rear poly bushed ,Nitrons fitted and four wheel alignment .Rather than doing another DIY, why not take it to one of the recognised specialists, tell them what kind driving you do and let them spec and then set up the springs/dampers accordingly?

He was not very impressed regarding the shock absorbers .
The nodding dog setting is at its worst when soft,it gets ironed out abit when you set it at a setting where your brain rattles and thatss to stiff .
I know its a sports car and there will always be a compromise ,Im after a decent ride on the road but at the same time i don`t want to car to squat to much when I accelerate...
There will be a happy medium if the correct springs are chosen ,certanly this 400/500 setup has spoilt my whole summer, saved a fortune in petrol because i have lost heart .

Just purchased the Nitrons ,explained everything and he adviced me on standard spring rates..
Roll on a decnt drive !
I recently had Nitrons fitted and a full setup at Powers at the same time as my 4.3 upgrade so they will handle the power. Initially I set them slightly stiffer but in fact I have gone back to the middle setting as the handling is just as good but the ride comfort is better. I think you will be very pleased with them. Are you having ebach springs or the Nitron standard ones?Roll on a decnt drive !

They don`t offer the Ebech unless you really want them.

What happened with the Monos?
Well after Nick at Willow Sports cars took the car for a drive he was far from impressed .He said the suspension is far to hard but when i soften it up its nodding dog time .he did a few checks by hitting the brakes pretty hard and found even set stiff the dampers were not performimg because of the excessive suspension movement .
Almost like riding on the front springs without shock absorbers .
Two of the adjusters have failed so it is now impossible to set the damping ,it now has one smooth roatation .
The rear passenger side shock absorber with the broken adjuster is now banging and is turning the boot in to a drum . The boot has been cleared ,the petrol tank checked to see if its secure and the roll bar and conponents checked at the rear ,unfortunately the shock absorber has failed and the car is not safe to drive .
After sending a few emails the replys i got back were "spray it with WD40"
I asked about reducing the spring rates and the answer "You won`t like it" "A bit of extra bump on the front"
Its not good enough !
I did feel a massive improvement around bends ,they felt good on a smooth surface so for the track they would be excellent but anything else they seem to struggle ,rough Tarmac`d roads felt more like a rumble strip.

400/325 on the 500 with Eibach springs. There has been some discussion on spring rates and this seemed to be a happy compromise between the standard (too soft) set up and the hardcore track settings. Seems pretty firm but not used the car much to be playing too much with the damper settings.

Wow, that is bad luck. So you have had to fund the lot. I am not the person to comment on spring rates but to have two dodgy sets of shocks is proper annoying and thankfully/hopefully rare.he did a few checks by hitting the brakes pretty hard and found even set stiff the dampers were not performimg because of the excessive suspension movement .

Not suspension related, but a few years ago I had 3 clutches fitted in a few months in my old Stag and it ruined a summer for me (with a good few quid spent along the way!) so know the frustration!

Daz, a bit O/T but why are you selling those Falkens? I'm thinking they might do for my E39.
On classified, measure 7.5mm so still like new .. or make me an offerThe near side tyre just ctaches the inner arch ,the other side is ok , i do prefer the 255`s makes the speedo perfect and matches wall front wall height 225/45/16 within a 1 mm .so they look balanced.
The 245/40/17 look a bit low profile and do match the fronts.
very popular with the Griff lads, they seem to have a bit more space.
