Chim 400 plastic rear window stitching blown
I was driving with the roof on, windows down, pushing a ton.
The clear screen suddenly began flapping in my earholes. The stitching had given up and the whole of the top is now lose, though the screen is undamaged.
Any ideas on what I should do to fix it?
Don't believe this...i had my 95 Chimaera in for a service yesterday 17/06/02) and as the rear window was a bit grubby & scuffed they decided to polish it. Pushed it straight through, the stitching along the top has simply rotted away. They have agreed to send it off for repair. the rest of the hood is fine, although the front edge of the "hard top" section is scuffed/worn through slightly.
Tony, how much are you being charged for the screen fix?
It seems that the stitching is a fairly normal cotton and subject to sun attack...
Time to get the needle and thread out. Its not that bad a job really. Make sure you have a decent needle, a thimble (a must have) and mabe a pair of pliers to pull the needle through.
Job for a sunny afternoon.
my screen got pushed in too. Got some sail thread from a boaty friend, a standard needle plus some pliers, just follow the track holes, looks fine to me!
Chris, they're footing the bill cos they did the damage. Deal with a decent company, HHC Hexham, and you get a good service!
Good luck.
