Full re-trim with added extra

Just picked my Tuscan up from Dave The Trimmer yesterday after him having it for a few weeks and giving it a complete overhaul. To say I'm impressed and more than satisfied is an understatement.
I fist started speaking with Dave after chatting with a few other interior specialists about 6 months ago. I knew I wanted to do something different but didn't want to go too lairy. I phoned around and no other place really seemed to be that receptive to discussing what I could do differently and all that was being suggested was to quilt everything. I spoke with Dave and then visited him with a couple of pictures of the colour scheme and we went from there. I'd looked at Dave's site just before going and saw the picture of the blue Tagaris with an updated dash from Plasticman. We discussed what was done and agreed to go with it. I also didn't like the brass in the car and wanted something more subtle, I've seen the all chrome finish that TVR had offered but Dave said he could strip the dash, vents and all buttons and I could have them anodised any colour I wanted so we agreed to do that too. I was also having a couple of problems with the seatbelt sticking and asked Dave if he could look at it for me, he then suggested we could change the webbing to whatever colour I wanted if I wanted to change that also, "oh go on then"
The previous owner had also added a high level brake light, great to have but it was so bulky you could hardly see anything through the rear view mirror. I asked Dave if he could build it in in some way. "No promises but I'll have a look" he said.
As for interior colour and materials I was just going to go standard issue leather, carpet and alcantara. However a couple of weeks before I'd been to a Ferrari show at Silverstone and had fallen in love with an F430 that had been trimmed completely in alcantara. I discussed with Dave and showed him a couple of photos and the decision was made, no carpet whatsoever!!
After going round and round on colour options I decided on a red and black theme as the calipers on the car are red, and when the sun catches the Spectraflair paint the predominant colour is red also. With that we went to the car with a piece of chalk and started marking everything that was to be either red or black. Now I thought black was black and red was red, oh no. Dave had so many different shades I went for the blackest of black and the brightest of red. Dave had so many different red threads it was easy to get one to match the red alcantara. With that I left the car with Dave to get to work.
About a week later after various pictures sent through by Dave I thought maybe all alcantara is a bit too much and it may need just a splash of leather to pick out some of the great lines in the Tuscan interior, I phoned Dave and we decided that we would do the centre console and upper door cards would be black leather.
I then waited, 4 long weeks. Only the odd picture came through but nothing that showed everything in its entirety and as we got closer to pickup day the volume of pictures slowed to nill. I wasn't worried but wanted to know what it looked like, if the colours chosen worked, if we'd gone too over the top. I shouldn't have given it a second thought I picked it up yesterday and I could not be happier. Dave used poetic licence to add a few neat touches here and there and every one of them has added to the quality of his work. Rattles and squeaks that were there before are gone, everything feels so much tighter and it smells like a 100k car. He has put some really small touches in that you just keep noticing like quilting the inside of the glovebox, running a strip of black leather along the dash to tie in the door cars, putting red alcantara inside the door pockets, and I'm sure some other bits I haven't noticed yet.
In the end the list of things done was:
- Full alcantara retrim in red and black
- Quilted doors, seats, roof lining, speaker panel, hand brake surround and boot lid
- All brass anodised black
- Dash changed to Sagaris / Cerb mix
- Seat belt webbing changed to red
- Steering wheel covered in alcantara with red stitching
- Boot re-carpeted

Had the flip bonnet done whilst it was there too, Rick Collinson who is ex Powers Bodyshop has a workshop next door to Dave (Salford Service Centre). He did all of the paint and bodywork on mine when I first bought it so it was a no-brainer letting him work on my car and sort bonnet access. I'll put a separate thread up about this:
Anyway, long post but the workmanship and effort Dave put into this deserves it. I'd have absolutely no hesitation recommending Dave, top bloke and top work

I like the steering wheel (I have one myself), much better than the standard. When I was looking it was difficult to find a wheel that suited the car. Either too old fashioned or too boy racer. The Trek R is a good compromise. IMO. )Love the decision to go carpet less. I think it's a must to be rid of the ghastly off cuts that TVR used.
Have been thinking that it would be a must when I go for the re-trim. Your pictures have totally confirmed that its the way to go.

That is amazing craftsmanship. Bloody jaw droppingly good! I wouln't dare use it after that lot was done though.
I thought the same when I picked it up but proper alcantara brushes down really easily and Dave has Scotchguard protected the whole interior so no worries there. He's also made me a set of carpet overmats just for added protection should I ever be muddy enough to need them. swanny71 said:

Cheers, I really like the steering wheel, not 100% on the red spoke yet, will live with it for a bit and see if it grows on me.(except the steering wheel but that's easy to fix

Reassuringly expensive, however I don't regret it one bit. Will send you a message as every interior is bespoke and by using alcantara throughout and the anodising, and the dash and the seatbelts and the boot etc etc the cost kind of spiralled. Plus my wife may read this S6 Devil said:

king stunning Absolutely awesome work and i'm loving the alcantara. I didn't realise you were getting rid of the carpets as well! I think the little red accents really help to lift the colour slightly and work well with the paintwork.
