Oil cooler mounting on a griff or chim

So it only heats or cools the oil once the rad stat has opened.Looks a good idea though.
Is there any advantage to having it on the flow to the rad rather than from the rad. As it is the water is cooler and the oil will then heat the water going back into the engine.

Was in the workshop this weekend so thought I'd take and post a pic here as well while the grill was off.
I fabricated brackets to hang the cooler off the horn mount and bolted the cooler via rubber bobbins through two holes I drilled through the floor. Will probably reroute the pipe work when I next change the oil but decided to route it as shown initially as it saved me drilling and grommeting an extra hole at the time.

To be honest I initially wanted to mount the cooler on its side taking up less room and allowing moree flow through the main water rad. A mate of mine who works as a superbike mechanic ordered the cooler and hoses for me but he mistakenly ordered a unit based on the core size and not the overall size. Needless to say it was about an inch too long to be mounted how and where I initially wanted to mount it. Said mate then said to mount it as shown as the water rad would still receive enough flow in his opinion and the uprated rad would cope with the small temp rise due to the oil rad position.
To date I haven't had any issues with rising water temp. This stays stable at about 100° when driven hard (80-90° in normal traffic). I feel the cooler has definitely helped with oil flow however.
NOTE:- I don't do all that much long distance track driving bur rather amateur drift events and I definitely get the feel the engine runs more smoothly with the cooler. This may however just be my mind trying to justify the investment rather than a real measurable difference. Who knows.

interesting I have only seen the oil rad behind the water rad if cramped for space. If it works, good on ya. Main thing is to keep on tracking just to test it you understand. Not sure slightly cooler oil will make your engine run smoother but as most of these things are in your mind, no harm done and as I said before it is better for the engine to have oil at a good temp. Peter why has your engine been out ?
