've never dealt with the company but have spoken to some that have.

I don't understand people that slag off the condition of cars he has in that are damaged. He doesn't choose the cars that are crashed so if they have tired interiors, no rebuild, rusty chassis, it's hardly his fault.

On the other hand, I have heard some horror stories regarding the quality of repairs, think wheels that aren't aligned and fouling body yet has a new MOT or wood screws being used in the fibreglass.

The customer service side is all opinion, some people will think its fine, others will complain.

With regards the car, it certainly looks good though it was reflex charcoal prior to being fixed so obviously re sprayed with budget in mind.

If I remember correctly, he had it for sale as damaged repairable for about £12k so not put much on it after repairing.

Possibly, maybe... but I think I vaguely recall a thread a few months back from a PH customer of a TVR breakers in NE England who purchased an engine with some several thousand miles less than when the original owner sold the same car for breaking??? I could of course be mistaken about that thread/ dealer/ breakers and the whole incident coming to light after the engine had been sold and cash taken scratchchin

Some garages have good reputations and some don't. At the end of the day, you pay your money and you take your chance. The PH TVR community as a whole have a fairly balanced and broad opinion about several dealers and garages. There are some that stand out... for different reasons. I do wonder though, that if it was being sold by Fernhust/ Agger et al in the same claimed condition, whether it would still be for sale??? I guess that reputation can mean a lot to some.

I'm off in my TVR to listen to Glen Miller and drive like James Dean.
He's not a dealer though..he's principally a scrap yard who sells TVR parts and a few cars which are repaired..he earns his crust. Not defending anyone and certainly not comparing him to a franchise dealer who have greater overheads, more staff to pay etc etc..

But. I Have seen the guy get slagged off for his growing monopoly on the salvage end of the market.

He buys and sells and generally has the bits people want..and he buys them off companies / insurance companies to sell on, repair and re-cycle. These purchases are all in an open market
As with any salvage operator go in with your eyes open, HE LIVES IN BLYTH, Which in the NE has a reputation in itself.
But in reality you shouldn't slag anyone off that is serving a niche..

In years to come you all will be Thankfull of this service..not many new spares are being made...The spares worry with the later more bespoke cars will become a greater problem as time marches on. The placcy and metal tower crane bits in reality are an irrelevance, Its the bespoke switches, engine spares, dash binnacles etc etc that are going to see late cars off the road for longer periods whilst spares are found..

Perhaps its more telling of today's typical TVR enthusiast that they would sooner pay a lot more for the same product from the likes of Fernhurst!! When in reality its all the same pool of cars out there going round and round!! smile
They are not a dealer, but they do sell cars in various states of repair. Sounds like you"ve had a sweet time with them. As it happens, reputation is very important for any business. Poor reputation, poor custom, poor turnover. Anyway, I'll leave you to your own opinion on that. As for the same pool of cars, I don't think that is the case here; however, I would rather pay for something that was accurately described with some support if things went wrong as opposed to paying over the odds, that wasn't accurately described with no support. In fact the fella is simply rude. Hmmm. Are back to the reputation thing again?

I'll just agree to differ with you.

its probably a different car for sale although "the chassis is one of the best we have seen"
"it was in perfect running order, pre-accident".
It is the same wording for every car he sells, even the cerbera that had the entire front end missing, and the photos were pre accident,
You pays your money, and takes your chances, but it won't be my hard earned!.

I haven’t bought or delt with them directly but I have seen a number of the cars they have bought going through the salvage companies. Before buying my TVR (non-salvage) I bid on a number of cars that they won on auction, they were more than prepared to pay over the odds for the cars and within an hour some of them were listed on ebay using the pictures from the auction! On average they were marked up by £1,000-1,500 on what they paid and quite often there was additional information and service history with the cars for sale on ebay that even though I had spoken to the auction company regarding the cars wasn’t available or they didn’t know when they sold them. The real money they would make on these cars was selling the parts and services to repair them, the margin on the cars after delivery costs and ebay fees would have been negligible. Several of the cars they bought were up for sale for about 6months but didn’t sell and then they have broken them for spares and the cars are pictured and listed now as breakers.
On contacting them for some spare parts I found that they were very abrupt and sometimes expensive, that’s my opinion but they have parts which are difficult to get elsewhere. I haven’t bought anything from them yet but do have a specialist breaker that I have bought a number of items off and the customer service, parts and experience have been very good.
Companies that break TVR’s are never going to be looked at by owners in a good light but they are going to have parts which are not going to be available from anywhere else that are going to allow cars to be repaired and used by owners for many years to come.

In an attempt to help answer the OP's question, I asked the seller about this car and he told me it had sold "months ago" and they bought it back.

I don't know why they would do this, if they did this but I can say their emails were some of the more abrupt emails I have received of late

Nevertheless i think u guys will be pretty intrested to hear the following
i know this car pretty well

No not this garage, thats how we found it

Thats more like it !

In 2 years of ownershipwe had absolutely no problems with the original! engine.
Engine number matching with all the paperwork.
It gave 355hp on the rollers before we even opened the bonnet or did anything to the car

Agreed the car was a mess when we bought it but hey it was a great project.

2 years later im happy to report the project is finished.
