Don't worry - we'll find space There's other carparks around Box Hill anyway, besides Ryka's...

But they do make good burgers...

This is sounding too good to miss, count me in, might even bring the wife if she promises to behave.

Following our regional meet last night it came to my attention that Surrey region has a karting event booked for the afternoon of the 18th at Sandown.

As most people I spoke to would like to participate in both events it was suggested that I 'test' the water as to the possibility of maybe meeting in the morning at Chessington, then having a run out and some lunch proceeded by a convoy to Sandown for those who are interested.

If anyone would like to do this either e-mail me through my profile or call me - my numbers in the Sprint (if you've actually got this months....) under Surrey.

Thanks

Andy (Surrey Region RO)

This sounds do-able to me. Would people not be too tired after the drive to then go karting? Just a thought...

What time do we have to be at Sandown for?

sixspeed,

The karting is a heat event not endurance so I don't think exhaustion will be a problem and if we 'rest up' at lunch should be no problem, off hand I don't have the karting times etc. as one of the other surrey members has organised it but it is in the afternoon which usually means about 2ish.

A lot of people are keen to do both (me included) I'll e-mail you off post and we can setup the details between us.

Should be a good day.

In another post..."We are holding an 'Iron Man' 1hr karting event"

Can you confirm which type of event its going to be...heats or endurance?

And how many are booked for the go-karting so far?

Regards, Steve

Following Andy's message to test the water re the karting on Sunday 18 August I can elaborate further as I am the organiser.

The event is at Daytona, Sandown Park racecourse. It's a one hour Ironman event..all karts on the track at the same time!

The format is approx. 10 mins practice, 5 mins qualifying and three races of up to approx 15 minutes. (The fastest racers in the first race go to the back of the grid in the second race !).

I have reserved the 900m (the longest) track and we will be using the new Prokarts (delivered last month - so they should be run in...and hopefully there won't be any duds).

The event will take place if 8 or more drivers send me a cheque - but note there is now a maximum of 20 places.

We need to be there at 3:30pm for registration ready for a 4pm prompt start.

Places will be booked on a first come first served basis, so please send me a deposit cheque made out to Daytona for £25 to secure your place on the grid. The balance can be paid on the day. When I have at least 8 cheques I will forward them to Daytona to secure the booking and at that point they will be non-refundable.

I received a call from Daytona yesterday letting me know that another party is interested in taking the reservation. As I have only 2 cheques so far I will have to give way and cancel the meeting unless I receive at least 6 cheques by Thursday 1 August, so
I would be grateful if you would let me know by email if you are sending me a cheque but please note that only a cheque in my hand will secure your place.

In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.
