Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe I've seen any mention of Harley Davidson in this thread?? It's clear that bikes and Tiv's inspire like minded people, I think it's some kind of 'nutter' factor biggrin
125,000+ miles on Harleys here, current stable Triumph Street Triple R and Victory Vegas, which may be joined by one of the new Indians later in the year.

To go with the Griff, Scorpion III and Lorraines two bikes. One full garage.

Indian Chief Vintage on order. It's actually here at the dealers (number 1717 of 1901) but no point in collecting it until the worst of the winter weather is behind, plus it'll be on a pretty neat '14' plate wink

At 111cu.in for a V-twin it's not far off being a quarter of the Tuscan's 427cu.in (1818cc vs 7008cc). Looking forward to it smile

I'll have to dig out some photos of bikes from my yoof before I discovered cars. In a shoebox somewhere there'll be a Norton Commando Fastback LR (that I now understand was VERY rare; didn't know at the time), a z900 and a Z1R. Still have a GPz1100 in the garage.

It's alright, but it's no C50 biggrin

Yes the Fastback was rare, bloody ugly as well, IMHO. Did you roadtest the Indian or just buy from the pictures?

The standard fastback wasn't so rare - all the original Commandos were fastbacks and I actually thought they looked great. But mine had the fastback tail but a Norton Atlas style tank with the seat 'ears' cut off. I always thought this was a DIY bodge done before I bought the bike (as an oldish bike in 1975!) with someone probably having bashed the original tank. It was only in the last few years that I found out it was actually a proper Norton model, the Fastback LR (Long Range) and a rare beast indeed. But I recall I got £250 for it, and that seemed OK at the time.

No, I haven't ridden the Indian. I had been plotting a HD Road King for years as it ticked all the boxes...but what held me back was it was a Harley. Maybe a strange thing to say but I wanted everything about the Road King apart from the Harley name. As soon as I saw the first pictures of the Indian I knew I had to have one...I guess I'm also old enough to recognise some heritage/value in the Indian/Chief/Scout name(s). But I only put the deposit down once I'd seen the 'launch' models in the flesh. Sat on one and had the motor running but not allowed to actually ride it as at that time as it was before the official UK launch. Quality looked superb and the road tests all say its good so the deed was done. Mine's in the UK and ready to go, but I'm just holding off deliver/registration until March (or April if the weather's still cr@p).

I've done the same, My choice is the Chieftain, but I'm going to ride one first! My big concern (enough to make me walk away if I'm not satisfied) is the remote key ignition. I was sat on the Chieftain at the NEC and some guy came up and switched it on; he obviously (to me) was nothing to do with the stand. If general oiks can do that, who's to stop somebody riding off with the bike while you're paying for petrol/talking to somebody at a meet?

I agree that the build and general quality is excellent, and the biggest thing against Harley for some people (me included) is the name on the tank. I remember riding the demo FLHS Electra Glide Sport to the York HOG Rally in 1991. Nobody, but nobody wanted to ride the thing. The next year, H-D gave it a new tank, forks, instrument binnacle and seat, a name (Road King), and they couldn't make enough of them. Still a sodding awful bike, but the "aura" had emerged.

I hope I like the Indian, but I'd like to think I'm a bit more wise to the PR bullst nowadays, and my money will stay in my account if I'm not satisfied.

Let us all know what you think of yours when you get it out on the road.

Bang on Chilli, I'd like a 1977 Z900 or a Suzuki GT750 kettle or a Matisse with a speedway Engine like this,,,,,

Stupid iPhone! Or is it me that's stupid.
Chilli see that engine lay out, that's identical to my first Grassbike, even the Norton gearbox.
I was talking to Henry Cole on the Matisse stand at the bike show last year and that caught my eye, isn't that just glorious,
Err mine had a proper Ali oil feed pipe up the side of the barrel!
Stories I could go on about, junior meeting at 17 years old everyone thought I'd win it, I thought I'd win it, bks I went to the start line for heat 1 all pumped. Gate goes up, drop clutch, instead of wheel spin for 100 yards
Massive grip, wheelie into loop in a second. Bike bounces down track as I'm still on the start line, snapped frame, bike in van and go home, crying yes crying like a baby.
That picture brings it all back.
The good old days, I rattle like a 250cc crosser that needs rings. Shoulder, knee. Groin, neck all arthritic but I wouldn't change for anything.
I wasn't as good as I thought but hey I was young.

When I did my cruciate ligament many years ago I decided a TVR was the only car to rival the thrill of biking.
Took a short break from bikes, but now the latest garagemate of my Tuscan is a Suzuki Hayabusa...
Something we have in common then. Other side of my garage from the TVR.

Previous bike with proto-type carbon fiber body before it was killed by careless driver.

That's the exact same reason I got my Tvr!! Nothing I mean nothing goes like a speedway engine, methonal fuel, low revin thumper, I love em.
I know theres loads of bikes much faster than a speedway engine but there's just something about the thin frame and low seating position and thin front tyre, bonkers,
By the way Dazzee, that's not a garage that's a youth club!

Lastly I'm rather embarrassed about this but I used to pull one handed wheelies up the street with that hand signal!
Crickey I even looped a 125 trail bike and it smashed through our garden fence doing those wheelies. The fence was 6 ft, doh!
My mum had a hard time with my death wish attitude back then, I've apologised to her since.
