Any one on here that can help in regards to Spectraflair/ coat paints?
I think Matti already posted the link to the supplier. https://www.outrageousfinishes.co.uk/products/spec...

I've used Spectraflair Lite and it is ok. Not as strong an effect but loads cheaper.

You need to check with your bodyshop on how much is needed I guess.
There's also a bit of conflicting info on application methods. On mine the base coat was done then 3 coats of spectrflair lite. The more coats, the stronger the effect, but also the more silver the overall colour turned.

From memory when chatting to surface and design, they seemed to work in percentage terms, i.e, they would offer a 3% spectraflair, which implied that the pigment is mixed as part of the basecoat. I never really found out whether this was the case but certainly I'm happy with the finish on mine esp considering the "Lite" version was somewhere under £100 a litre I think.

Thanks Mr Chips. I want the eFfect in the above pictures. Is he not online anymore? Specialists paints just quote me £285 1/2 a litre which should be enough.

Specialist paints aren't listing "Spectraflair" they list spectracoat. Spectraflair is registered trade mark so if you want the exact finish of the cars on the previous pages I'd buy real spectraflair.

Can the body shop your working with not acquire samples to spray test patches for you. It could be a lot of cash for a wheel refurb, which you don't end up 100% satisfied with.

I got the paint from

http://www.specialistpaints.com/products/spectraco...

I think and it still looks good today on the wheels, i think it was a vw Base coat silver and the spectraflair laquar over the top, 3 coats was best effect in the samples, i had the boys at sportsmotive in Longton, Stoke spray mine so you could always give them a call, I tested 2,3 and 4 coats, 3 and 4 looked the same, defo better than 2. 2 was OK but 3 was better

Crimbo,
My paint guy just put 5 COATS OF TVR Spectrafare and says you can't see the flip that well. Is this the case with yours? I'm back from Spain tomorrow and will see for myself but does it need to be very sunny to see the effect. Please let me know ASAP please. Thanks

3 coats and 4 coats were enough on my test coats, in sunlight it pops plenty so 5 should be plenty. In the shade they are silver like all spectraflair in the sun they are just like the pic

This is 3 coats of spectraflare lite and you can see it's very subtle and to most people on the street i suspect it just makes the paintwork pop and shimmer a little more and the rainbow effect isn't really noticed.

That's mainly due to it being in the blue/topaz, much more pop on a silver Base

My spectraflair blue has this as a base coat plus 2 or 3 layers of paint, the paintwork pops silver and really shows a strong spectraflair effect in sunlight.
