I think if I ever went the 911 route I'd have to get some kind of sticker saying " TVR boys I'm just trying something different after 3 TVR's... so Leave me alone"

That sticker will have to be very big! so that we can read it at 200 yards before we get you into our crosshairs and go hunting some pork. shootlaugh

Hi ya Jamie,
So i presume if i go for a bit of pork I will be black listed and never to sit in your car ever again frown

I'm still young fit and healthy ( cough cough) so not parting with the Chim (enjoy it toooo much)

But i do like em paperbag just not the image of a lot of the drivers of them out there.

Strange last time we met at TITT the day after in Redhill some teen boys shouted Epic car mate (London dialect i guess)

Last Friday I was approaching a roundabout and mid 20's guy in a BM window down says " Hey man that sounds Bang on mate... Go on rev it mate ( Midlands dialect Fact!)I obliged of course and got a thumbs up from a giggling smiling face smile.

Don't think I would ever get that driving a 911laugh

PS hope all good your neck of the woods (or lakes) thumbup

Evening all,

Just had this thread pointed out to me as I don't hang out here very often - not enough chest hair!

It is indeed my car in the first picture and it was done by a friend of mine in an on going tit for tat childish car park battle. I thought it was very funny TBH! BTW we both love cars including TVRs, he used to own a Cerbera and a Chimera, but we both have Pork at the moment and I am a die-hard 911 fan - hence the ribbing.

To clarify a few points:
1. The car is now as pristine as it can be at this time of year
2. The paint work isn't damaged
3. I parked like that as there is no space to the left of that bay so you avoid potentially dinging someone else's car by being further over

Here is my retaliation to the dirty finger which some of you may find amusing…

All the best

Glad you like that - it was hard to put the plates on as I was laughing so much. This week he nicked the keys from my house and replaced my tax disc with a TVR owners club one. Took me 3 days to spot it!

Cheers

Well I'll be blowed! I knew that was hooky from the start!
Flipping hilarious. Parking,do what you want mate your the guy of the week in my book.
I was very close to buying an old 911 before the Tvr made me come to my senses so there.
Couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me but its good to know there's still life out there!

I bet you two laugh a lot, good on ya.

I'm defensive over British cars but you can't deny a 911 for long.

Enjoy your cars and life together mate.

Had a feeling the owners would know each other smile

This should also make it easy for EGB, his post on the last page stated he was going to try the DVLA for your details in order to personally apologise on behalf of all TVR owners - guess you should expect that to be winging your way soon....

Great ending to your typical soap box of opinions story on here, two Petrolhead mates just having fun and not getting anally retentive about there paintwork ,cars or parking! Unlike some on here!!

Call me inspector Clouseau,

But, the post was written my Mickywoosh…. The Photos shows a 911 997 that’s been TVRed…

If you look at Mickywoosh’s profile, you can see that he owns at 911 997 and a TVR 350…

So I think that maybe he did this to his own car…?

Mickywoosh, not sure if my detective works is right…?

Anyway, the photos made me smile, but I do agree that if it was my car and someone had done this to it, I would be pissed off… (and I am not the kind of guy who has a perfect car: mechanically my Chimera 500 is pretty good: full service history, lots of work done when I bought it, only 36k miles from new, the engine is pulling really strong… but it often looks like it could do with a wash / polish / wax… the car is made for driving right…. I think people who drive the car for 1 h and spent 3 hours cleaning it are a little sad, but again, each on their own and respect to their car if it is show room clean and had a detailed engine bay… Mine is often one of the dirtiest out there when I go to a car met, so much so that when I went to TVR at Goodwood and I had the dirtiest of all the VRs being tracked, I wrote “TVR” in huge letter with my own spit on my own bonnet….)…

I love TVRs: so much so that I am keeping mine, even though I have done hardly no miles in it since they last service: maybe 300 since last may (our first baby arrived in May and we bought a house, so with the baby and the move there is not much time to use a car that can only seat 2 off us) and if money permits, in the near future I might consider buying a 4 seater TVR (or swapping the Chimaera for a Cerbera)…. Or get a 911 (and keep the TVR).

Come on guys, let’s stop being childish her, TVR are greats, but Porches too, I would like one guy here who owns a TVR and who would say “no thanks” if he had the opportunity to keep the TVR and get a Porsche (or let’s say if someone gave him a Porsche… Remember one thing: Porche do not need a new chassis after 15 years or so, most of the TVR do… and Porsche have not gone bust…. 2 – 3 times in the last 5 – 6 years…

I do think that money for fun, nothing compares to the TVRs and I did a lot of “Porches chasing … “ on the way to Le Mans Classic a couple of years ago…. But there is no denying, Porches makes so good / fast / reliable / safe and fast sports cars… in which you can fit 4 adults and will go from A to B safely and without requiring a new chassis …

Just saying…

Frenchie!

PS: Frenchda, your sticker is quite fun, but technically it’s not written right: it should be:
« TVR parce que LES Porsches sont pour les filles »
Or
« TVR parce que Porsche c’est pour les filles »
Bet the guy who was behind you in the train with his GT3 must have been in front not too long after… well, if he has balls…? After all, a GT3 goes better that a 4L Chimaera and probably a 5L too…?

Anyway, safe trucking everyone, in Porsche and TVR and other cars for a matter of fact… god job we can have those bunters, if not lunch breaks at the desk would get boring…?
Forgive my French, I blame Google translate. I am a self confessed Porker fan, in fact every car I have ever owned (including 2 x 911's and a 968) are just stop gaps until I can "build" my singeresque" 964. On returning from a previous Lemans I dropped off my co driver and went into Guildford OPC, spent over an hour doing complicated man maths (had the funds if the then Tuscan was sold)but did not buy the 996 GT3 (bloody wish I had now as it was a good price.

I digress, if it was my 911 I would probabley have smiled but then again appreciate that it can cause damage.

I think the reaction to this thread was totally justified and it's good to hear the 'prank' was amongst friends and accepted as such. However, pranks are carried out as a laugh in ignorance of the outcome sometimes. We live and learn through experience and if we are lucky we have a wise old sage (PistonHeads forum) to educate us.

Years ago in my late teens, at a party, we used shaving foam to cover our friend's 2.0 S black Capri in amusing insults. It stayed like that over night and when it was washed off the next morning the words could still be seen in the paintwork. His was the best, most petrol head car in our group and we ruined it.

He is still my friend and as such, still has an unspoken pass to do something to mine without any hard feelings.
