Evening all,

When I put the fuel back into my Griffith tank last year I watched a load of crap go in.
Is there a way of cleaning out the tank without having to take it out of the car.

I'm not sure if there are baffles in there which will stop me just draining it and flushing it through.

Just stick 10 liters in, run the car dry, change the filter and carry on as normal,

That's personally what I'd do

Ian,
However did you manage to get the buckets mixed up?

Seriously, what kind of crap was it? Most people would be surprised to see what's living in their fuel tank.

Ha ha, no don't, my sides my sides ....

biggrin

It was lumpy black bits. It looked like rotten leaves but it couldn't have been. Just crap from a not very often used Jerry can.

As per Alex' instructions above then.

In future, always borrow your other half's best 15 deniers, double up in a funnel, & strain.

I don't mean grit your teeth strain, just kind of filter strain. That should prevent the lumps going in.

HTH smile

ETA: Sounds like some kind of extremophile bacterial algae type slimy growth jelly stuff. yum Quite common in this modern bio-ethanol enhanced crap they palm us off with these days if you don't use it quickly enough. You should get it out more often. driving

Now I've got the munchies..........

You can get those lumpy black bits in Diesel too Ian frown providing they are soft and gungy then just do like Alex says it will go straight through the system and into the pump providing the inlet does not have one of those strainer type things on the end inside the tank scratchchin

Good to know chaps and Thank You.

Looks like my nice new filter will just need replacing and a lesson learned for the future.

Try one of these as a preventative measure Ian - works great on the Griff, the mower and the quad!

Thanks for the advice Martin. After slopping fuel all over the mower and drive I've got my act together and ordered one of them.
