Is the air-con in a Griff or chimera any good
Discussion
My '98 Chimaera 450 had a factory fit air-con system.
Some 2/3 years after purchase, I was tinkering, as you do, and noticed that when I pressed the aircon button the clutch on the compressor would not engage. Subsequent Q's on the forums led me to believe that the system was low on refrigerant.
A mates dad has access to all the necessary gear and did a full check (including holding a vacuum on the system for the appropriate 45 mins). then a re-gas, re-oil and set-up. The difference was dramatic!!ICY, I mean really cold air was now coming out of the vents.
So, yes, if the a/c system is leak proof and is gassed up with the exact volume of refrigerant, it is very effective.

Likewise my '99 450 has a factory fit system. A few years ago the condensor and some other random bit developed a hairline crack and it took a while to diagnose and fix. Now it's possible to get the cabin too cold, such that driving down the road I'm manually turning the aircon on and off.A useful modification would be to fit a dedicated aircon switch, and then have the option of warm to freezing cold aircon air. Are there any reasons why this would be bad?
