So, aside from the usual mix of Pistonheads, Autotrader and Top Marques, where should I be advertising my Chimaera for sale?

Car Data have, of course, called, and been told where to shove it - nobody had a good word to say about them a year or so ago.

Where else is good thought?

The other sites I always seem to look at are:

www.mytvr.co.uk

www.findit.co.uk/cars/tvr.htm

www.tvr-webmart.co.uk

www.tvrcc.com

www.tvr-ads.co.uk

Hope this helps.

Tommo.

Find.it.co.uk are quite good – it's free and I sold my Kawasaki 600 on there last month – mind you, it was on there for three months.

But I both bought and sold my old Mustang on there so the site gets my thumbs up.

Sprint takes too long ... by the time the ad comes
out - you have either :-

1) sold it
2) decided to keep it
3) price needs changing as it's too high

I advertised my Lotus on Pitonheads and Findit. It was sold within a couple of weeks via Findit before I'd even got the chance to advertise it anywhere else. All the enquiries came through Findit. As it's free, you've nothing to lose.

Thanks people Will try findit, certainly, but will have to give Sprint a miss as I'm no longer a TVRCC member.

Can someone with a recent Sprint have a quick squint in the classifieds and see if £18k for a 1997P Chimaera 500 (44k, 1 yr warranty, MOT, recent 48k service) looks reasonable?

Much appreciated...

You dont have to be a member to advertise in Sprint - they are also supposed to be placed on the website, but that doesnt seem to get updated anymore....

Nowt wrong with Exchange and Mart - they do a 'Hold til Sold' scheme which is about £70 but you can renew it every week, for free, virtually indefinitely, and make changes too.

Second toptastic idea: Put yourself in the mind of a buyer. What would you do? Go to a search engine and type in 'TVR Chimaera Sale', see what sites come up, then advertise on them!

(Blowing own trumpet - did a Google search for one of my own websites and bugger me if it didn't come up fifth in the entire WORLD!!! Nearly fell off my seat with surprise. Pity it was only a hobby site, not the one that's supoosed to help feed the TVR)

When I sold my Cerbera I tried Pistonheads, findit, Top Marques and another web site I can't recall.

BY FAR the most leads came via Pistonheads and I eventually sold it this way.

Found Top Marques totally useless, not one lead. Findit, I got a few enquiries asking if I'd like to swap it for various 911s. Findit is very good for Caterhams, in fact that's where I found my Superlight R. Maybe it's marque specific.

I stuck with the pies.

Marshy,

Saw you driving down Newmarket road yesterday (Sunday). Roof off, sun blaring, sun glasses on and one large smile. You cannot still be thinking of getting rid of it can you?

I was the tit in the green Citroen on the other side of the road if you were wondering....

Cheers,

Paul
