No you didn't. You publicised a web site that showed how to open a TVR. I'm glad it was deleted - and I don't even have a TVR with that system any more.

I did NOT publicise a website .... I suspect PH was probably the original source of the information. I just advised owners to beware and disable it .
If you had looked on the TUSCAN forum , I got a thread deleted earlier which highlighted the problem.

What about those owners who might actually want to keep it so it is available in a genuine emergency or those who don't have a garage and so need reassurance that if the battery goes flat, they at least have a potential solution.
It's the publicising of it that is the issue, not the fact that it exists.
Although now that it is online (has been for ages though!) then I'm not sure of the best solution.

Relax...

Seriously have you actually tried the "secret" entry trick? I can tell you now that I have and although it gets you in a)Its not easy b)it tests levels of human flexibility, endurance and circulation as your head goes upside down a lot c)if like me you lock your keys in the dam thing the noise of the alarm siren is so severe you can actually feel the skin of your ear drum vibrating ... oh and d)it takes a fair amount of time to actually get in this way.

I'm not really that fussed if someone publishes the secret "trick".. unless you live in a state of paranoia the reality is that there's far easier things to steal... and get injured less in the process

I have tried the "secret" entry and I think it was pure luck I got in within 5 minutes. I think some are just too paranoid about this info being in the public domain but that is exactly where I found it, not by asking on here or in the club forum.
I also think that the BMW/Mercedes/Land Rover thieves will stick to those makes as it is usually quite easy (for them) to steal the keys and the second hand parts market for TVRs is so small they would likely be caught in 5 minutes. rolleyes

I usually park mine with the roof down. It saves them breaking the windows. smile

I am assuming the secret way in does not disable the immobiliser, just access to the car which could be gained quite easily by smashing a window or slicing the hood?

+1

Having actually needed the method at Le Mans once to get into my car (a story for another time) and using it with someone who had tried it before, it still took us a good half an hour, lying in dust, swearing profusely with 30 degree heat before we actually completed the job.

As others have said, it's only useful to gain access when the battery is flat, the doors won't open and you don't want to put a brick through the window. It doesn't do anything to bypass the ignition or immobiliser systems.

On a Sagaris,T350,Tuscan or a Cerbera ?
and it takes me 30 seconds smile . Maybe I missed my vocation .
And if you leave your roof off .... where do you leave your valuables ?
And if no one is bothered about everyone on the Internet knowing how to get into their cars ...Then Why did a MOD delete the thread ? smile

I take my valuables with me, just like I used to when I had a bike, or I leave them in the boot and take my chances.

I needed to use the secret method a few months back, dead battery. Went to the secret place and the secret thing wasn't there.

My car currently winds down the drivers window and pops the door of it's own accord a couple of nights a week though so not really an issue for me.

Of course there is a much easier way to access the car, well Cerberas anyway (don't know about the rest of you), if you have a flat or dead battery but I cannot possibly post this on a public forum as my similar post was deleted on the Club forum.

I like the idea of slashing hoods though....

The point is that many people are bothered about the details being available on the forums.

Every time someone posts the details there are many complaints and requests for it to be removed.

The moderators have always removed this information (and will likely continue to do so); that is why you won't (or shouldn't) find details here on PH. smile

Could you PM me? Secret entry method is useless to me as I seem to be missing a certain secret component.

To be honest I would rather the "secret" entry wasn't in the public domain, it can be PM'd very swiftly on here to those is genuine need.

However, having little scotty kids with the knowledge of how to very swiftly access your boot with your valuables in is not something that I would promote.
