What non written off Sag has been standing in a showroom for 18 months?
Repeating what Tovie wrote in his first post! I know nothing about Sags as I don't follow them myself.
But I have noticed Cerbs for sale for at least 12 months so this does happen it would seem.

Hi N7GTX - I am guessing you are right; the dealer has probably contacted the owner and said "you wanted £xx,xxx, but I can only get you £xx,xxx minus £1500" and the owner has turned it down. As the dealer wants to sell the car, as that is how he makes money.

However, the owner probably bought the car at £32-42k a few years ago (so is making a good profit); has it parked up on SOR (so doesn't need the money for a replacement fun car); and when it sells will probably just put the money in the bank (where it earns little interst). But if the car is still on SOR in 2015, he can say to the dealer I now want £yy,yyy back (y being more than x), to reflect that prices are still creeping up.

As a seller, if you don't need the money, it makes no sense to take a discount on something that is going up in value?
Ah yes, this seems to make sense now. Its a shame these cars are treated like museum pieces, works of art or simply investments. Other than shows I have never seen a Sagaris on the road in the flesh.

Looks like the speculators have spotted an opportunity. Cars are for driving, not sitting around in a showroom deteriorating.

Cough....I saw this in the showroom over 2 years ago, when I picked my car up from there :P

I had written quite a piece on Sag prices and the new Sag Investment owners, but to be honest, deleted it, as it's all very boring. Who want's to talk about price increases. I would rather talk to owners that drive their cars on the road and track, who have fun in their cars. So, on that basis, if your at Silverstone Classic this weekend, have had fun in your car all year, happy days! It will be a pleasure to talk with you smile

On the other hand, even when standing still, the car will need a new service every year, so it will create costs at some point. I don´t say that it will be in the region of 2,000 GBP, but stationary costs are a factor often forgotten (cleaning, maintenance, etc...). So the profit of up creeping prices might be eaten by this costs.

Steve, I'm surprised that one has stayed around for so long. Lovely colour, red interior highlights aren't my cup of tea but fairly easily remedied.
Think you may well find that there are quite a few of the long term for sale cars that are part of a small stable of nice motors that the owner has and as such having them sat while they use their 360, R8, 997 ,insert what you will, doesn't bother them.
To the majority of us our TVR, Aston, Porsche etc is a hard earned pleasure which we will drive and enjoy and when it comes to time to move it on we will not be in the position to have it sat at a dealers for months as we wont have something else special to enjoy while it sells.
Trust you are still enjoying yours, stupid question really, haven't caught up for a chat in ages, are you having one of your T350 get togethers that a brit car could gatecrash anytime.

18 months? hmmmm...

sounds like OP has been ignoring the advice on this board and speaking to a certain dealership outwith the UK.

If that is actually the case then i am not surprised they did not budge on the price. They have a massive facility/yard for storing many cars/wrecks so any costs for storage will be absorbed by this.
However, i would very much doubt that that particular Sag has moved or been serviced since it's incarceration. Given that, I'd have said it wasn't unreasonable to request a price reduction.

But that would be assuming that the dealership in question was "reasonable". A quick search of google or even PH will tell you that they are not.

Tovies original post suggests he has put offers in on 3 different cars out of the 7 he has been to see and I doubt if the one you refer to is one that would even show up on his radar at all.

Would be helpful if he was to actually respond to the numerous posts that have been put up so far as it might add some clarity to the thread.

In all fairness to OP it hasn't even been 24 hours yet.

as far as the other cars are concerned: It's not the kind of car anyone is in a hurry to get rid of. As far as i'm aware there is only one person that use's it as a daily driver.
With that in mind i would assume that all the current sellers simply saw the prices rising and put them up with no real expectation or rush to sell. More of a curiosity than anything else.

Unfortunately, this means that it will be harder for prospective buyers looking for a bargain. With sellers unwilling or not needing to budge on price, they will only go up. Making that budget stretch an extra £1500 may seem ridiculous, but will be the bullet you're going to have to bite i'm afraid.

That being said it's not a bullet you're going to regret. With it being an iconic British sports car and (in a lot of people's opinions) one of the best looking cars ever made, it's not going to depreciate.
Add to that the limited numbers and you've got a fantastic investment. At least far as cars go

Agreed not 24 hours, he could well be like me and have a memory like a sieve, but he has been on today to start another thread, not having a go but it would be good to get some of the points answered.

Thank god for that, it's bad enough reading the Ferrari bitters posts moaning about 360CS prices on the Ferrari thread,

Any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

If they had been priced correctly they would have already been sold by now. Maybe the number of people willing to pay through the nose for Sags has simply come to an end, they have already topped out and there is no more to be had out of them.

If the owners are not bothered about having the use of them then clearly they are more in it for the money than the pleasure of driving them. They may well have to lower their prices, accept the going rate (only what someone is willing to pay) and look for something more profitable to invest in.
