That would be great thanks. Sounds like you might be having a LS engine fitted. I'd be very interested in hearing about the spec you've chosen and what you think of it in the end.
Went to visit Sportmotive yesterday to hear the engine running, and it sounds very sweet indeed. Expecting to pick it up next week once the interior is put back in and the car MOT'd. The engine is LSA 6.2 supercharged, GM quote 556 bhp but Ian is expecting 600 ish with all the inlet and exhaust mods once set up correctly on the rolling road after running in. So should be very entertaining to drive :-)

i don't want to quote values as i may be incorrect, but I'm sure Ian said some tubes went from 1.6mm to 2.5 mm tube, whilst others remained the same depending on what the cad stress analysis said

theres loads of small (and not so small ) triangulation added, they're pretty evident in the pics on the site

he also mentioned the grade of tube was higher, and that some of the box sections were made using different radii to add strength in twist.

Some very interesting points there Steve about CAD chassis design and using it to determine the correct metal wall thickness. Blackpool would have probably phoned up the local metal merchant and asked for the cheapest spec steel, and lashed it together with some dodgy mig welding with no thought into strengthening bars or metal testing, for stress and strain etc. I understand this wont happen to a standard chassis overnite, this will probably take years rather than months to happen. Sounds like the Evolution chassis is the correct bit of kit for all those wanting to either add turbo's or supercharges to there RV8, or sticking an LS lump in.

If I was upgrading my engine, I am sure I would be looking into upgrading the chassis too, makes perfect sense.

Well, if anybody is interested, my car is next in the build list and should be done sometime in the next few months. With the inexorable passage of time, I've had my 500bhp V8 fix with a Z06 Corvette and the TVR has accidentally become something of a white elephant.

If somebody wants to buy me out, they are welcome. The car is a yellow Griff to be built with a brand new LS480, T56 Magnum CR box, John Reid built BTR with Quaife LSD, Dave Mac heavy duty driveshafts, AP brakes etc etc. Pretty much all the parts are ready and it's a matter of Ian getting on with the build once that SC Chimera is out of the way.

I won't enter into further discussion here, but interested parties can PM me.

I don't think there is going to be a bare chassis, just my car and one other due the available space.

A month on, any further opinions on your new motor? Is the new chassis the star of the show or is it the whole package that makes it so good? The reason I ask is if I buy a car with a knackered chassis I'd be very interested in a Evolution replacement. However, if the old Rover lump is left in the shade and I really need an LS engine as well then I need to start doing overtime.

The car is fantastic, the whole package is quite special. I would highly recommend Sportmotive to anyone wanting to do the same. The evolution chassis is designed for the LS engine which gives you various power output options from the basic 430 to the supercharged option I went for. The chassis easily handles the power, although I am not sure exactly of the output until I get the rolling road tune done next month once it is all properly loosened up. I will be at the Neil Garner open day if you want to have a close look at the car.

That's a great offer thank you, but I can't make that day. Real shame as your car sounds great. I'd love to see a twin test with your car against, say, a Tamora because I suspect this Evolution chassis is probably the best TVR chassis ever made. It just looks like a quality job. I know it's not cheap, but a brand new standard chassis is a few grand so the price difference isn't that great. More plotting and scheming to be done me thinks......

Actually saw a rolling EVO chassis in the flesh yesterday.
Very impressive and if I had the money, I would.
