Again enormous thanks for the helpful comments - another reason why I'm thinking of TVRs is because of the community.

I'm somewhat convinced that if I find the "right" TVR the solid residuals will make it more "sensible" than the more mundane Z4M. I think it's down to a T350t or Tamora unless a lovely Mk1 Tuscan S appears. I'm going to be less hung up on mileage and more on provenance.

Quite good progress in 24hrs?!

I would still appreciate people's thoughts on my previous post of whether the yellow Tam is worth lots more than the blue one.

Also for T350T owners - is having the targa pannels removed not much better thsn having a sunroof open?

Thanks!

To be honest whatever tvr you buy, I bet you will not see another one on your sunday drive.I have had a chim 400 and 450 and now a Tuscan 4 litre. They have all been amazing in there own way.But if I'm being honest the Tuscan win hands down, christ its angry. Just do it, there is nothing like a tvr

Why don't you take a T350T out for a test drive and a Tuscan and a Griff and then decide what suits you, I have a Cerb a Griff and a T350c with a powers 4.5 in and all very different cars and I love them

It seems you have your heart set on open top motoring , if your looking for roof off then I think you need to look at a Tuscan or a Tamora

You need to test drive a car and I am sure a tvr dealer will only be too happy to let you drive them

It doesn't sound like the Chimaera is high up there on your list but to your only reason of them being common then I would also say that is not a valid reason.

Apart from going to meeting in 7,800 miles I have only stumbled across 3,and one of those was a stones throw away from Central TVR in Stourbridge so that don't really count either... So Two in 7,800 is hardly what I call common.

Agree with what others are saying and get yourself to your nearest dealer, just sitting in one particular model without even driving may be enough to realize that one is not for you. However... turn the key and they will all put a smile on your face smile

Don't dismiss the RV8 cars out of hand.
A lot less cash to start with, and glorious to drive.
I have driven a Tamora and hated it.
My Chimaera has more power than I can use on the road, and it got me round Cadwell Park at the TVRCC track day faster than all the 4.5 Cerberas.
My ideal TVR would be a convertible V8, but with an LS engine for the extra power and torque.

Bought a 2002 Tuscan S 6 months ago (she only picked me up 3 points so far!) and words cannot describe its performance, yes its not as refined as a multi billion dollar funded organisation but its a peoples champion, punching above its weight and not shy to give them big boys a scare here or there.. so in the Tuscans case, where some say over the top, i say reminiscent of 60s racers.. dare i mention Fezza P4, 33 Stradale, Jag E2A even.. those long bonnet, massive flared arches and a heini with more rump than nicki minaj.. i absolutely love it ! The car that is.. no, wait.. both of them :P id await the next local TVR meet and show up biggrin i wont comment on other cars as i am completely bias to Italian and British variants.. currently lol

Knowing what i know now, I would buy the cheapest TVR just to be a part of the groups and clubs.

I've owned a few cars over the years and been part of many groups, clubs, forums, meets etc...
None of them compare to camradery, banter and general feeling of goodwill and acceptance that comes from a local TVR meet.

I guarantee that you won't get it with the BMW or any other weekend toy.

My only regret is that i didn't do it sooner

Tamora is the answer to your question.

The funny thing is it hasn't really got a big bottom, despite its reputation. Have a look at one next to a Griff, for example.

It does, however have a large boot, which is not often looked at as a downside.

Red Rose editions are much rarer and more desireable so carry a premium.

In the two examples you found though, for me the premium for the Yellow RR seems a bit much.

I'd consider getting the Blue one and sticking the balance into an account to pay for 4.3 Upgrade or engine rebuild should it come to that.

Obviously, the history and condition of both would need careful review in order to make a real decision.

i don't like the colour of the blue interior, but love the yellow...

it really is down to personal choice, but there is not 10k difference

I agree - more like £5k difference would be about right, I would have thought.

Anyway, haven't RR spec cars been superseded by the latest engine upgrades, and 330mm brake upgrades?

If these are changed, what remains of the RR spec?

You won't get a T350T for £20K not will you get a C and will struggle at £25K for a good T.

No it's not like a sunroof.

You really need to go to a meet and sit in some cars to get a better view of their potential.

Thanks for all the replies - I'm based in Milton Keynes btw.

I am im discussion with a dealer about this:
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

But I think too steep given the miles. Would you disagree?

Oh yeah, whilst I am at it, what is so special about 4.3 v8 aside rarity?

Thanks!
I'd expect that to have had a Powers rebuild and a transferable 100k warranty for that price.
The 4.3 is regarding as the sweetest engine but all are good.

Apologies OP if you have already said, but location "UK" on your profile is naff all use to anyone thinking of inviting you to something local. biggrin

ideaIf you live within a reasonable hike of Notts (where I live) or Sheffield (where the run starts), you might like to come and passenger with me on a TVRCC run in the Peak District tomorrow. I am getting the impression that there will be quite a number of cars on the run.

That way you get to try a Chimaera (that you have already dismissed) and see what a joy it is as a tourer. You could ask to sit in a few of the other types of cars, or swap from car to car, there will be all sorts there, we're a cheerful and friendly bunch, the weather forecast is good, and there are several stops on the route to regroup and have a natter. There is also a lunch break in Buxton.

Now tell me you live on the Isle of Wight and are working tomorrow!!

Drop me a PM as I'm getting very slight pangs to sell my T350T. There is a picture or two on my profile. I'm in Aylesbury so not a million miles if you fancy coming to have a look.
