Just a little update - the yellow Tam has now sold but I am off to Str8six on Saturday to have a nosey round their stock.

Think it's T350T or Tuscan as current frontrunners.

Of those two the T350 is possibly slightly the better drive, but a well set up Tuscan, with that gloriously wacky styling and the roof and rear window off.......no contest.
Trust a man who has his first convertible and first TVR after over 40 years of driving - you need to be able to get the roof off!!!

PS, saw a black SLK55 AMG this afternoon in Waitrose's car park.....now there's a thought if you are trying to keep the lady in your life happy.....whistle

That way you get to try a Chimaera (that you have already dismissed) and see what a joy it is as a tourer.
No dont.. chimaera look like giant MG roadsters laugh

I happen to own a Chimaera AND an MGB roadster, and they look nothing like each other..

You tell him Chilli. The MGB is much better looking! getmecoat

Would appreciate people's thoughts on the following two Tuscans:

http://www.junction17cars.co.uk/TVR-TUSCAN-4.0-000...

http://www.benzbavarian.com/cardescription/tvr-tus...

The second hasn't had a rebuild - is that a no no even if it is a late one?

The first has but was done by TVR - is that a no no because it was done by the factory and so could have been rebuilt with same crappy components?

Thanks!

The Reflex car doesn't look too bad. It doesn't mention who did the rebuild in 2006. If it was still using standard off the shelf TVR parts your left with the same issues.

The str8six rack lift and sagaris arm conversion is a pretty decent mod to have. I dont think they even offer it anymore due to parts availability.

They're both a bit full on price for me.

My 2004 is still going strong at 54k but there is is an endless debate whether engines built at that time are absolutely as good as a fresh TVRP rebuild even though they use pretty much the same spec internals as far as I understand. As per previous advice, I'd need to know where that second rebuild was done.

When you compare to what travelbug63 got for I think around £16k by being patient and viewing several I'd sit tight:

a few people advertise as engine rebuilt, but on one of my chats with dom, pre 2006 I think it is, theyre just the same as the factory, so not a fat lot of difference.

in regards to the above, both look nice cars, however when I went to go look at a car at the Junc17 place, lets just say it must have been described by a blind person as it was no where near as good in person as in the description/pictures

Wait three months chaps and you will get a lot more bangs for your bucks - TVR prices always dip in the winter and go into overdrive in the summer

Once again some excellent advice. A couple have tweaked my interest but I am going to be patient and wait for right spec/colour/provenience/price combo.

Right then boys and girls we had a fantastic visit to Str8six this morning to decide between T350s and Tuscans and was helped by Chas who is an absolute legend. Knows everything, is a true gentleman, and is incredibly helpful without being the slightest bit pushy. Also met Jason and his fabulous Sagaris.

Anyway, it's definitely a Tuscan for me particularly because it looks like nothing else on the road and I like convertibles. Has to be a Mk1 and, to my eyes, the non S looks better.

The bizarre thing is I can't get my head round the right colour. I said on here that silver isn't my thing except we looked at this one and really liked it:
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...
It drove beautifully too!

So what is messing with my head is that if I don't like silver/grey but it suits it do the vibrant colours I do like the idea of actually work on it...

Anyway someone local to me has offered to show me his orange Tuscan which should help plus we're coming to Blenhim Palace on Monday so hope to see a couple there.

Would be interested to know your thoughts on the car I test drove. Not cheap is it?!

I love the orange one I saw last year at the dealer in the windmill in Warwickshire.
My other favourite is a Tuscan 2 I saw - that deep glowing crimson red, with the interior in the same red and magnolia.

The reflex purple one you listed at the top of the thread is also very tasty.
While Tuscans do look nice in silver or frosty blue, for me a Tuscan has to be outrageous, both inside and out.

How's this for good salesmanship - just been text by Chas with some photos saying he thought the car looked nice as he was locking up. Looks nice doesn't it?!
