Yes, the very same. Just over the road from Liverpool Street station.

...in which case I will pop along next Monday. It'll be my first meet (City or otherwise) so looking forward to meeting you lot. Will it be obvious who you all are??!!!

'Fraid so; tough life and all that.

Still, it gets better: I'm edging towards your neck of the woods the week after (twice in fact), but thankfully I'm stopping at Cambridge and Ely.

I go to DD's occasionally. It's a good meeting. Lots of beer and talk of cars, racing etc. Got a bit too wasted at the last one though

Getting back to the thread - I can say that our local TVR owners club meet is great.

No wonder some of you have problems getting the missus to 'buy in' to the TVR scene. I suggested to imindoors that he joined the local club - I was a bit apprehensive as I imagined loads of blokes with trophy wives but was met by a great bunch of people - really friendly and quite normal - but up for a laugh. Haven't missed a meet since we first went in January.

We normally congregate around the bar area, which is on the far right as you wander in off the street (downstairs). If you can't find anyone call me on 07770 852806. Sometimes we get 30+ people along, sometimes 8-10 - its difficult to judge these days.

People generally gather after work, so about 18:30 onwards. I actually drive up from the Croydon area (I work in Whyteleafe), you can park in the side road next to the pub.

Having only just caught up with this thread - sorry, will try to keep up in future - I wanted to make a few points, (as co-RO for the TVRCC Staffordshire area).

Firstly, to *Ford Prefect*, an invitation to check the Staffs meetings anytime. I see you're in the W Mids, so might not be too far away (next meet 07/08/02).

Secondly, I do think people sometimes have unrealistically high expectations of TVRCC (and I guess other car clubs for that matter) meetings. It's also extremely hard, as an RO, to keep in touch with your 'loyal regulars' and make sure you chat with newcommers. (That said, there's no excuse for being rude, and a little courtessy costs nothing).

Also, all ROs are unpaid volunteers, and though they try their best to make meetings/events enjoyable, don't turn up expecting to be 'entertained'. If the cars & people aren't enough, you'll probably be dissapionted.

Finally, it should also be mentioned that most ROs (well certainly me anyway) would gladly step down from their positions if anyone more enthusiastic & able were to volunteer themselves!

I second that.

Sorry I haven't responded to all the replies you have posted.....just got back from four days in Hamster Jam.

A couple of points, I am certainly not having a go at ROs, cos it is not a job I would want to try and do and wouldn't have the time either. I'm sure it's bloody hard work with little reward.

Secondly, the opinion formed of the regional meeting was made by all three of us.....so I'm not just whinging it really did come across as a closed shop which it a great shame....to be honest I was more disappointed than annoyed by the whole experience especially as I was trying to get my wife into the social aspect of the club to give me even more opportunities to talk about TVRs.

Thank you all for the invitations to your regional meetings, they sound like what I would have expected from a group of like minded people.....will certainly give this some thought.

Having been to a couple of area clubs (moving around the country with work) I have found them both "run" differently but both just as friendly as the other. Only gripe is work keeps me away from some. A nice Sunday out or as now a nice Thursday evening out.

I would just like to say after 4yrs of TVR ownership i managed to get to my first TVRRC meet at the Northants meet last month and can say how welcoming the people there where, there where also other '1st timers' and i was lucky enogh to of Known one member Steveab aka 'fatsteve' from a previous PH meet at Donnington.
Everyone one i spoke to including the ro who introduced himself quite early on seemed very friendly and interested.
So get down to the Northants meet next Thurs(ithink) the fastest growing tvr club in Northants
