Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was asking the o.p. I've seen lots of very badly machine polished cars by 'professionals', I'd be wary of machining your own pride and joy if you've never used one before, you could cover the car in swirls or burn through some paint in no time.

Quite item when it's done by 'pros' though, it's body shops who couldn't give much of a Damn and just rush it. Can't rush machine polishing

Seems to work well - managed to get all of the surface scratches off my Tam and buffed it up to a great shine.
