If a nice car is in front of me I often slot in behind and keep up at reasonable speeds, far better than following a Yodel van or similar.
You must have a really fast car if you can keep up with these. eek

happens to me whilst in my elise quite abit as well, i think most of the time they just want to see you put your foot down to watch how fast you can pull away as opposed to actually think they can race you. I think the majority of the time their mind set is if i had that car i would be giving it the beans. But in reality you cant drive a car like that all the time.

last time it happened to me was an Audi S$ on the M40 about 4 years ago. Perfect timing as we were in 50mph limited roadworks. On exiting the restricted area gears were dropped, significant noise was made and the Audi was suddenly quite small.

Half a mile up the road my engine went pop. Thankfully i was only a couple of miles from Str8six who were more than happy to pick me up and relieve me of any money i had managed to save since buying the car.

My daughter was about 3 months old at the time. In local pub a couple of days later and an Aston V8 owning mate of mine asked me how my baby was. 'Not good' i said. 'engine went pop on monday and needs a full rebuild'.
