The jeep wheel nuts are what the factory fitted from new on the Cerbera with the 17" wheel.

The 18's do have a reputation for cracking where the spokes meet the hub area.

My 17's have lasted 16 years using the original style nuts, I have changed them a few times due to the threads going through over tightening by tyre centres.

Yes, that is correct.

I have probably had 4 sets of these, a couple replaced by myself but originally by STR8SIX as they were pretty ropey and they recommended changing them ASAP when I brought it and took it to them for a thorough once over.

I think the taper on the nut sits'. In the taper of the wheels and the square shoulder on the nut fills the square recess in the wheel

I am still at work for a couple more weeks, when home I will post pictures of my rl7's. This will show why I have this concern as I am sure mine don't have a tapered shoulder on the wheel.

My 18" RL7s and 18" Spiders both have the taper but I did have a set of 17" RL7s which I never actually fitted that had the flat face, they looked like they had an insert pressed into the holes that made them flat.
Try this guy http://www.mistertee.co.uk for flat face nuts, looks like he has what you need on his website, he was very helpful in getting me the longer studs I needed.

If anyone is after a set of 18 inch RL7s for their Cerb, I now have a set to offer for sale.

ETA - I hope this doesn’t break any rules, given that advertising parts on PH is free anyway.
