Alliance and Leicester just now are doing a hire-purchase scheme (which is essentially the same as getting a loan, let's face it) whereby if you need to borrow more than £20k to buy a car they will think about lending you provided you buy from a franchised or reputable dealer (although how do you quantify this?)
Interest rates seem reasonable and the crunche is that they will lend you anything between £20k and £100k if you apply online, and more on request!!!! Who the hell needs to borrow more than £100k to buy a car???
