I have a French buyer interested in my TVR, but he requires the national type number (starting E11*9727...). I have had a look on the log book however it only shows the VIN number and engine number. Does anyone know where I can find it? Or if it is not on the log book does that mean it is not suitable?

Has anyone sold a TVR to be exported to France for sale?

Thanks

Might be on the V5 under "type approval number" (line K) or stamped on the chassis plate

That line is blank on my V5.
IIRC that TVR took the fifth amendment - the exemption from type approval for a low volume manufacturer, which is why we pay £230 road tax on a 5 litre V8 car.....
The info plates on my car are under the bonnet.

Hi Chim Turbo,

Let me know if you have trouble: I am French but live in London (I have a Chimaera too), but I have a fried who lives in France and has imported and registered in France a Chimaera 400 and a 500… he has some issues with getting the French log book for the 500 but has it all sorted now…).

The Chims that are possible to register in France will have the following on the VIN plate:

e11*97/27*0096*00
e11*97/27*0096*01
e11*97/27*0096*02

BUT beware!

There are some final version Chims that have the following:

e11*97/27*0096*03

The 03 suffix is an amendment where the approval was downgraded from full EU to just UK national and these cars will not be accepted.

Attached is a photo of my VIN plate, there is no sign of this number. Does that mean it's not suitable to export to France?

Without the EU type approval number it starts to get more complicated. Maybe the administration can find the appropriate records from the VIN number then all is ok.
Its up to the buyer if he wants to take the risk of the car not being identified from the VIN. If it isn't then he wont be able to register it here.
