That said my cars are cars, not garage Queens. Probably only clean the 911 once every couple of months if that. What's the point, I drive it hard every day, only going to get brake dust everywhere every 5 seconds.
Don't worry you aren't the only one who is not a polisher although for different reasons, having two small children means I get very little time to myself so I don't spend it polishing. Still when I look around the edges of the hood on my Griff from the inside the sight of daylight in various places means that I agree with the others, no auto car washes. It would get quite wet inside, brushes or no.

Rob I'm with you there mate. I have a 3 and a 5 year old. Plus the work commitments, and rugby twice a week with games on Saturdays. Can be a nightmare.

Automatic car washes are very expensive installations.
Putting a Chim through it could potentially cause catastrophic damage to the car wash.
I would therefore strongly advise against this course of action.

If said Chim does get exceptionally filthy, all that is required is a frenzied 15 minute detailing with a gravelly sponge.

Takes me 15 mins to clean. I'd be sitting sipping a nice cup of tea by the time you've taken it to the car wash, waited in a que for your token, got soaked from the leaks and driven back minus a wing mirror.

I let the kosavans wash mine when I'm feeling lazy, just tell them not to aim the jetwash at the roof. Mind you my local kosovans are well known for doing a proper job, no jewelry or jeans, clean water, sponges and rags. They don't even use that crappy tyre dressing stuff unless you ask for it.
They're Albanians around my neck of the woods.. and they do a reasonable job for £9. Got to keep your eye on them though, I was in the queue..my car next.. as I watched the guy washing the car in front drop the lambs wool mit twice..pick it up, and carry on scrubbing!

I wouldn't take my old BMW through a car wash..least of all my TVR. I would always get some humans..as above do it if I couldn't do it myself. Have only ever heard scary stories about using a car wash!
Plus, the car wash doesn't clean all that well the awkward areas, or wipe the inside of the doors, sills and boot.

I wouldn't put any car through an automatic car wash. Just wash it with a Brillo pad for the same effect.
WRONG..... we have a wash near us that is specific for convertables.... no brushes, just jet washes wink
That would appear to combine the benefits of high flow rates of water directed at TVR seals with the thoroughness of a non-contact wash.

What an ingenious invention that sounds. The ability to pay money to drive your TVR through a cleaning machine and come out simultaneously wet on the inside and still dirty on the outside. Why didn't I think of such a device?

BECAUSE I'M NOT AN IDIOT. THAT'S WHY.

I love how typing things in capital letters makes them fact and beyond dispute on the internet.
