I too think this is a positive development

Lets face it, the TVR 'landscape' has found a balance in the past decade, which is now been 'disturbed' by the 'new TVR' setting up business. I know that they (TVR) have gone and spoke to loads of people/business' in the last year and now are forming a group around them (we will probably see body/interior/engine specialists gathering) which can only be a good thing (it ain't forbidden to make money....)

If you don't like a choosen/prefered partner, you are still free to go somewhere else, surely ?

Looking forward to the TVR future with eager anticipation !

I spent most of this afternoon with Les on the TVRCC stand at NEC and from what he was saying, I can assure you that this is just the first of many positive news items you'll hear over the next few months.
Splendid news, really looking forward to all that positive news in the next few months!

The beginning of a new TVR erabow

Ah, that's the problem isn't it? This new venture has destroyed three parts suppliers in its creation.

Well thats not quite right.. for a start "thetvrshop.com" and "cleverTrevor.com" were serviced by the same team.

Which ones ? RG, clever Trevor, race tech and powers performance are the main guys. RG and CT are already one co. So are all 3 destroyed?

I simply trusted the TVR CC:

TVR Parts ... have bought out the RG parts operation along with Clever Trevor and Multipart
Even if it's only one it's sad to see something destroyed rather than an addition.

Destroyed? Subsumed would be more accurate.

Apart from Multipart were TVRs appointed primary parts vendor. Its been taken back in house by TVR and enriched by merging the existing RG and CT product lines.

I am now confused :-)
I thought Multipart were an existing parts supply chain co with big warehouses who struck a deal with TVR to supply parts to the likes of RG and Powers Perf etc? This being the case then I assume Multipart remain a sep co and not owned by TVR, unless the TVR side is a subsidiary that TVR Parts have bought up?
RG and TC are already one co and so TVR 'buying' them is really a purchase and rebrand exercise surely?
I assume Racetech and Powers Performance will be working with TVR Parts (and/or Multipart) to see how they continue to sell TVR parts. Would be good to have some competition as we dont want to see prices rise.

Clever Trevor was already part of the RG business so that's not a 'destruction' and Multipart weren't retail.

Multipart where not acting in TVRs best interests so their removal was inevitable. All TVR parts have been bought/acquired/ by TVR and transferred to the new company.

The deal done by Smolenski was based on fantasy numbers that were never achieved and as a result both parties suffered. I would suggest that Multipart are actually happy to see the back of the TVR parts cluttering up their massive warehouses that could be storing much higher value items.

I understand Les concluded the deal/arrangements for the transfer of all the existing stock from the various Multipart locations on the TVRCC stand at the NEC last Saturday.

That all makes sense. Will be interesting to see how the other suppliers will be able to gain their TVR parts (assume that TVR Parts will also supply them but at a discounted price).

Well that could be a possible downside to a generally positive story. Are TVR going to let 3rd parties sell TVR parts at the same price as their official supplier. In an ideal world, yes, but ...

And what happens to the supply of AP TVR parts, which exclusively go through TVR power. Does the TVR company now have the right to these and will again take supply back in house.

Suspect conversations have been had with AP.... Or maybe the new cars will use non-AP brakes and clutches. Suspect the clutches for "heritage" cars are a relatively good earner for Powers Performance but that for brakes there are lots of cheaper options than AP (albeit I went AP for disk upgrade recently).

The point is who will really have the exclusive rights to the supply of those parts for the cerbera or speed six cars going forward. Will the right to supply return to TVR.

All of the brakes and clutches for Cerberas and speed six cars were made by AP, its only recently that alternatives have been made available.

there have been alternative brakes for a a little while now eg 'non-tvr' size APs that you can buy from AP retailers (330mms), also HiSpec as an option and I'm sure other options...
Quite some time ago Raceproved did clutches (albeit I think they were actually used AP units reconditioned with their own spec of friction and tougher fingers. Yes relatively recently the helix option came from RG.
This muddies the water slightly but I think we can readily source non-TVR brake parts (eg Brummies discs) but the clutches will be AP or Helix (and so the question whether AP revert to supplying TVR-Parts only is key).

Power posted this on their FB page...

In light of the recent announcement, TVR have contracted a company to distribute “Genuine OEM” parts.

Powers Performance will continue to supply proven and tested parts as supplied over the last seven years to traders, public and international customers.

Our Heritage is knowledge of the brand, customers and parts, something we have earned over the 25 years being a part of TVR Engineering.
Building TVR / Racing TVR / Servicing TVR we are the one stop shop.

We see competition as healthy and challenge any company to better our parts supply service.

With that said, we would like to offer 7.5% discount on parts to all TVR Owners until March 2015

I anticipate we have supply of discs for 2-3 years, needless to say it was a significant investment to have drawings and moulds made for this facility, main thing is now production runs should be quicker now the tooling exists...
