Not quite Mark,

I would've expected more positive comments than have been posted here especially as they're well known in the TVR world.
I'd be interested to know how many negative comments were received by the op.

TOV!E, I asked a similar question about a company I was thinking of using (not car related) and got a few public replies and considerably more PMs telling me to avoid them.
Since then, whenever a question like this appears, I always wonder what replies the op gets.

Fair point Mr Arnold, no one has an 100% record within this industry as TVR's have a mind of their own sometimessmile

Hi Tony

Don't forget the 12 odd months of HELL that I have also gone through. Will NOT mention the chaps name as I do still respect that he has to earn a living and there are always two sides to every story!!!!!!!!

Not so in this case, but anyway. Feel free to email me fella and I can pass on a few points for you if required. My website on the story of my F1 SAG is still not complete as yet, may be able to finish it one day, which I am sure will be of huge interest to all TVR owners. S & D seem to have very happy customers and I have spoken to the guys in detail and i believe this will probably be my next call to sort out my SAG!!!!!!

Good luck either way fella.

Ironically negative remarks are often removed by the moderators.

No they didn't, but they relieved me of over 12k to prep and paint it!
And your point is?

Overpriced compared to what though? A standard respray or accident repair?
12k is 10k plus vat, so they get 10k. Materials costs say 4-5k? (fillers, stoppers, solvents, primers, discs, filters, topcoats, polishes, masks etc etc) so they get max 6k. Presumably they have a decent sized workshop and large running costs for ovens and compressors working .. my big workshop was 1k a week to run all in (rent, electric, insurance, rates, telephone, etc etc). Presumably they want some wages too .. so if they turn the job around in 4 weeks they break even with 250/wk wages for each of them. Hardly seems expensive to me. sound about right?

I've seen pictures of DJR7's car and it wasn't a simple prep and respray like most projects, this is a modified Tuscan with a Sagaris front and rear added and jolly nice it looks too. For the work to have been estimated at £12k, there must have been much more prep to do than a normal re-paint, however it's sad to see that he isn't happy with the results as I would have thought that with such a unique project, and for such a cost they should have pulled out all the stops to ensure the result was flawless. If they accepted the project, they should have ensured the fibreglass was 100% before applying any paint, after that they should take 100% responsibility for the finish.

DJR7, have you told them about your disappointment?

Even if the materials are half what i've said (i doubt it ..) it still doesn't sound expensive to me.
I must e foolish then .. I'm about to have the bodywork on my Stag refurbished and I'm fully expecting that to cost 10k. I had a conversation with a garage that had done a car in slightly worse condition and that was 13k. And fibreglass is worse to work with than steel cars of course. I think the generally very positive comments about the other work S and D have done , and the many happy customers, suggests they're not in the habit of ripping people off or doing shoddy work ..

edited to add .. this was in repsonse to scottyd's reply which has now disappeared ??

I think he was referring to the comment "a fool and his money are easily parted"
I must say I wasn't particularly impressed with that remark!

That is why I removed it as I thought it was a tad unfair, but since you read my comment you know my opinion, but it is a open forum where opinions are like aholes we all have them and they all stink. smile

V8 GRF , are you implying that the paintwork problems on Darren`s car are down to my fibreglass work ?
