You must have a short memory, there used to be some real "knock down drag out" threads on here.

Mind you I think most of the 'best' ones have been deleted now.....

That said I do agree it's got a bit more feisty on here recently.

Not sure where all this animosity for the OP has come from. I have met him once about 2 years ago when his car was looking pristine, so a very light association, and am fairly impartial with these things. The OP has provided me with some pictorial evidence of the paint work, and from the images provided the paint work has serious issues. There is clear evidence (for whatever reason) of de-lamination and poor adhesion, over spray etc. Obviously I cant comment further as I haven't seen the car. I'm reasonably familiar with some of the issues having done some "fun" painting at a friends body shop.

Before posting people need to consider what they would do in the same situation. If this was your pride and joy and you weren't 100% satisfied would you sit back and accept it. Id like to think the answer from the majority of people would be "no". In such a case you would work with your original choice of bodyshop to resolve the issues. Sometimes this approach works, other times the situation is un-resolvable and therefore you need to find an alternative approach.

In this case the relationship for whatever reason has broken down and the OP is going elsewhere. Its as simple as that.

And I must say that younger generations of potential owners looking in on threads like this must think the TVR world is full of whackos
I don't think that's changed in decades

This thread is mild compared to what used to happen years ago.... mods clamp down to quickly.

I've known Zipee probably a good 8 - 9 years, not someone in speed dial just see each other at meets a few times a year..... genuine nice bloke who loves cars of all models, and been around Tivs for about 10 years.

Not seen the issues with his car, but can't imagine they are made up...... and over the years we have passed comments on bad servicing etc, which you just grin and bear as not much you can do apart from try another garage.

I will say that a certain garage quoted me £2.5k to sort out a parking dent and dent on door edge where door opened on to Armco barrier by police on my Merc .... which ended up costing me £800 at body shop that regularly sorts Audi R8's and Bentley and Ferraris and done a fantastic job...... just cos a certain body shop is Mercedes approved doesn't mean that they are any good or realistically priced...... hypothetically wink

I just wanted to say thankyou to the majority on this thread for the recommendations and advice. My car is booked in with S&D for next year and will be stripped right back to gel coat and resprayed in full, the very poor, soft paint being fully removed.
A huge thankyou to a few (you know who you are).
To those with doubts, as Matti stated - if this had happened to your car would you have just left it or fought it? I know what the majority answer would have been.
For any still doubting, how many insurance companies that have already paid out do you think would spend several thousand once again (remember this is a LOT more involved than an ordinary respray) if there was nothing wrong. I had my own independent inspection and then the agreement of the insurance inspector backing me here. We all know what an 'industry acceptable standard' means and it's not always the best quality, more just acceptable. Mine was classified as way below this.

To their credit (if you can call it that) the original repairing garage did do an excellent job on the GRP side of things, that was why I had previously sang their praises mid way through repair.

Good for you!

I think most of us would do the same, if we were in the same situation. These aren't what you'd call 'White Goods cars', are they. they are not cheap to run and keep in tip-top condition, and the people who work on our cars should know this.

Pleased your getting it sorted Tony. I know it's been really stressful for you. Many of us have seen your car and we would not have been happy with the end result. I am sure that in hindsight everyone involved would have done things differently. I am sure there has been a lot of stress involved. It becomes all consuming. It's your baby and you don't want to spend hours thinking about it each day and night or spending an inordinate amount of time on the phone trying to resolve things.

Ultimately we are here to help one another, however some people are satisfied with satisfactory, when others have higher expectations. There are also those that overplay the value or positives of products or suppliers based on limited experience or an experience which happened years ago. Ultimately, sharing experiences on PH and FB will ensure that we all benefit from the good and the bad either go out of business or more importantly they have an opportunity to review and improve the service they provide.

Merry Christmas smile
