No one in the UK is more than a few yards from someone fully capable of working on a basic assembly line. There is absolutely no mystical skill beholden by a special guild of individuals only found in a select part of Britain when it comes to fitting Chinese part A to European part B.

And as its only going to need a few staff and a modest location then neither land or labour cost differentials between regions may be significant enough to outweigh the draw of simply locating your business within easy reach of your family home and other business interests and pastimes.

Any news on the 2015 plan?

Isn't that a circular argument? Why does it matter where your key market is? That aspect would be catered for by a suitable dealer network. Shifted stock to retailers is the easy bit as you ship to any significant UK sub hub from the M25.

And if you expect to be exporting then the very same argument for locating near a major global port such as Southampton and easy reach of the Tunnel for importing your parts also works for exporting the end product.

I'd wager the assembly plant being a small unit in the South East in the absence of any significant State incentive for the owners to locate an inconvenient distance from their families and lifestyles.

There is an established link with Les and his funding of the Aston Martin GT team which is run by Prodrive, and they did dabble in car manufacture with their P2 prototype!
