on the rare occasions that I wish to listen to the radio in my S1 the reception is not great - I am looking to replace the existing so what is best to use - at a reasonable cost say below £50 - well below if poss.

This drops in just under budget

What's your preferred radio station while thrashing it round a tarmac rally stage? smile

My old S2 had a powered aerial fitted to the rear wing and that worked........ be careful when buying as you need to buy one which will fit (ie the length hidden away in boot and positioning of the motor)

If you listen to the radio on just a few occasions, why bother with a powered one?

IMHO, the best course would be to get (any) aerial properly grounded to chassis, and all the electrical 'noise' sources supressed.

sorry didn't explain myself

not electric (up/down) but electric signal booster

I'm changing the aerial to one which does not hang down into the boot as I now have an allow space saver which is hitting that part of the aerial

Yep Andy........ exactly

when I was a lot younger I had a Mk1 RS2000 which I rallied and the exhaust sound was so good we never turned the radio on.

I'm older now and sometimes want the radio on - still don't have CD / MP whatever etc.
