Need some advice. Need to take both nearside wheels in for a refurb.
Do I
A) Jack the car up on four stands - which could be a bit of a challenge in the fairly confined garage.
Or perhaps easier for me B) Jack just one side up and put on stands, leaving the car on the wonk for as much as a week while the wheels get done - is this a bad idea, any potential consequences?

Or there is a C) do one wheel at a time because I think it's possible to Jack just the front/back up on stands in the garage without too much issue, just means it will be unusable for longer.

Have you not got a spare wheel you could use while re-furbing takes place ? Ie take one back wheel off and put spare on,then take the front one off and either leave the car on the jack or just the front on axle stands . winkOr even use the other front wheel on the back ??

Jack up the offside using the usual jacking points, (outrigger corners) and place a pair of small axle stands under the chassis rail using a small piece of wood to protect the rails.

Or use a refurbie that does them without taking the wheels off?

I don't know any wheel refurb specialist that will powder coat wheels without removing them from the car and removing the tyres & valves.

And if I had a Tam, I certainly wouldn't let anyone put it in an oven nono

OP, no harm will come from jacking up one side & leaving on axle stands for a few days. As suggested, small pieces of wood or even small squares of old carpet will protect the chassis from damage.

Thanks for the replies. I am sorted for protecting the car (cut down old rubber mats) so looks like leaving it on the wonk shouldn't be an issue. Might just over inflate the tyres on that side just in case.
And the refurb will be a proper job, stripped back, power coated, baked Tec, so not really an option to leave them on.
Cheers

Slightly off topic, but what do you use to jack up your Tam? My standard Halfords jack won't go under the car.

Drive the car front up a pair of wood chocks for added height.

Can you shop at Costco? They also occasionally have a 3 ton version in too, which is lower profile again and around £90. Similar available elsewhere but the Arcan is pretty good value I think.

I do same as Phazed - my two jacks wont fit either.

I have fashioned a couple of wooden 'ramps' that I drive the car onto, then can easily slip the jack under. They are no more that a couple of inches high (maybe 3), made from a block of wood with an angle cut into one end, a small 1 inch high piece of wood screwed on the opposite end to the ramp end to act as a wheel stop, so the car doesn't fall off the other side. And I also ended up screwing on some pieces of floor board to the bottom of the wooden block because I found that when I tried to drive the car up on the block, it sometimes just skidded along the ground. So the car first rolls onto the floor board and then onto the block - no more slipping.

Hope that helps.

There is enough room on my Tam to twist in and use a bottle jack, that gives clearance to use the trolly jack.

No worries, where abouts in Essex are you? I am always floating round the A12 corridor for work, if you get really stuck let me know.

About as far away from the A12 as its probably possible to get (deepest south east), but appreciate the thought.
